I start Season 3 Episode 4 tonight. This thing is something of a roller coaster. As soon as you think you know where it's going, they pull another twist. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I know you are selective about the SciFi you watch, but have you ever heard of Fringe? I enjoyed it so much, I watched it twice, back to back. There are 5 seasons and it ended properly... not cut off. But it was going to be canceled, and then allowed to resume, so the last season was rushed and done in about half a season. You can tell it was rushed, but they still did what I thought was a very nice wrap up.
It's about multiple universes, or a dual-plane-existence Earth (it takes a while to get there). I'll tell you that the first 5 minutes can be gory, kinda like a CSI, but they resolve the issues during the show. However, it is so well written, and tells such a compelling story about life, family, humanity, being human, and learning from your mistakes. If you don't have something you're into right now, you might want to check it out on Netflix.

I thought you said it was written to be completed in 4 seasons. I guess you mean you wish there would be another series.
Fringe is available in a DVD set. I'm sure this BSG is, too, but I'm watching it on Netflix.
