No way I can say. I'm not there. I was just tossing out thoughts. Good luck finding the trouble. :)

I appreciate your wanting to help....I like that about you. We are not going to look for any trouble...will replace the breaker. It will not matter for a fountain because it will not be operating in the winter, and if it quits in the summer, no big deal. I am thinking there will not be nearly the electrical strain on the breaker from a fountain pump.

Breakers generally shouldn't be used as On/Off Switches. A properly wired breaker in a good circuit should last a very long time. Using it as a Switch can shorten that life. The only thing to wear it out in this case is excessive current.

The switch to turn the pool pump off/on is in the pool salt conversion thing. The breaker is just there if there is a problem and it cuts power. For some reason, sometimes when it rains or is high humidity, it trips. We had a electrician look at it and all is okay so it's put down to finicky.

Simply replacing the breaker won't help at all if there's wiring damage. It only takes a minute to shut off the breaker and test the wires between all three for shorts. Black to White should be Open. Black to Green should be Open. White to Green should show a Short, actually. They go to the same place in the breaker box.

In a properly wired AC circuit, Black is Hot (120 VAC), White is Ground, and Green is Safety Ground. White and Green both go to Ground in the breaker box.

Night, jj. Pleasant dreams. And I am going to go too, VG. Need to do more research because I still have not found the exact set up for my fountain. I know I want boulders with water flowing down them into a bed of stones. (They are fake so the weight will not be so bad.) I am amazed at all the choices out there. And I have to find a configuration that won't send my hubs to the emergency room when he sees it.

And I do not think jj is using her pool breaker as an off/on switch....I think she was saying the only time the breaker is being used is in the summer since the pool is the only thing on it. Our pump switch was right by the pump, which I am sure hers is too.

See you tomorrow, VG.:wub::wub::wub: And good night to Tink if she comes by again, and any other Beachers who happen to show.

LOL.....VG. Hubs wired our whole house, including the hot tub. And he has rewired two rehab houses we bought that were still on the old knob and tubing. He knows all about wiring. Hot tub breakers get quite a work out, and I think he already determined that the breaker was at fault. Our pool used to trip the breaker occasionally also....just a lot of juice pull at times. And just imagine the electrical work out of a heater trying to keep the water temp at a 100 degrees when the wind chill is 40 below. A 10 year old breaker to boot. He checked everything after we found the frozen block of ice that had been a hot tub. It would have been covered by insurance, but since we are not replacing it, we did not turn it in.

Night again...thanks for sharing your knowledge. I know my hubs COULD also rebuild coils...but since he does not vape, he has no interest. And he knows nothing at all about computers as far as the wiring goes. :)

Good Friday Morning, Beachers......

It is an exceptionally beautiful morning in Illinois...full sun, low humidity, cool 56 going to 80....PERFECT! And the new bag of Columbian Supremo coffee beans are providing a great cup o' java. A fine day to be alive.

I will have to spoil it some by getting some chores done, but overall, I believe it will be a good day!

Hope it is great for you all, and Sun is having fun traveling home.

And I do hope that coffee cake has my name on it, Dale. :)

You know what they say, the early bird get's the worm ... or in this case, the CAKE!

The early bird may get the worm… but the second mouse gets the cheese :D

Mornin'. Last night continued to suck for a while. But, it's over :) One more night in this trilogy :thumb:
