I am not any Beach lover any longer, but i was working on miami beach for 11 year just 2 blocks away from the shore......... i was on Hollywood Florida Beaches a few times and also on Ana Maria in Brandenton

I know of the first two, but not the third. I'm sure you know this but Ft Lauderdale is where all the college girls go for spring break, lots of Liscabism possibilities.

Say, CES, did you try out those places I mentioned. Vee just added commercials at start of movie. Use to be none. :glare:

Light does play funny tricks with the camera. I had a hard time capturing rainbows in a pic. What is giving off the bio-luminescence in the water?

And brava for recognizing Zaphod! It's a towel thing!

i haven't had a chance to check out the websites- but i saved your PM with the links.

there are two types of bio-luminescent critters in mobile bay.

There is a species of (non-stinging) comb jellyfish called Ctenophora - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . They ones we see are usually about the size of a quarter and give off a gentle glow.

the sparkles are from microscopic critters, a type of Dinoflagellate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

i've never seen them quite this bright but this gives you the idea

Hi Kent,

that's exactly it- or it would be if the dinoflagellate count was as high where i go. We never see it quite that birght, and there is still a fair amount of ambient light even at night. When it's really good you can fall backward into the water and send up a big sparkly splash :)
that's beautiful
