I brought home a young male, apparently lost or abandoned some time ago. Beat to hell and starved to death. Gonna work my magic on this little fella. Very friendly and loves to kiss and be petted. Of course, I've found that most males are like that tehehe....

Hmm...you may be right. :D

Oh, my day is good. Didn't adopt anyone that kisses and such. ;)

You adopted another? New kitten? :w00t:

Warning -- long post.

Oh no! I fall in love with most of them (have only cried over one of them) but I foster, show them, and communicate with potential adopters to try to make a good match between cat and new family. This one... oh, this one broke my heart. I named him Babalou and I rescued him last summer from the woods behind my house. It was still dark and I had gotten up early as usual and gone outside for my smoke and coffee. I heard this high pitched screaming from the woods and knew it was a kitten from the tone. I put on my boots, grabbed my bag, snake chopper and headed down. I came back with a half-drowned, shivering, muddy, most miserable creature one earth. His new mama friended me on fb so I can keep up with him. He hunts her like prey but loves his new grandmother -- rides around with her in her wheelchair lolol. Can you imagine? Here he is the day of rescue after a warm bath. You can see how tiny he was. The red dish of kitten milk wouldn't even hold a sandwich. I ended up having to bottle feed him anyway because he wasn't ready for real food. He was so tiny he crawled right through the bars of the cage and way half way out from under the bedroom door when I was alerted by my bad-boy cat...

Here he is in my foster room. Look how cool his fur is. Starts turning white on top just about his shoulders. His tail is almost completely gray.

And look what a handsome fellow he turned out to be. I love me some Baba! God, I wish I had that cat back!

Any children? We don't have any by choice. One day we may be sorry. :?:

Nope. I was 32 when DH and I married and I wanted to keep working but didn't want my kids in daycare -- wanted to stay home. DH was willing but I then realized I was just too damn selfish to have kids. I like to do things when I want to do them. I'd rather have cats lol. I usually have kids at school that are "my kids". They come to me to talk about things bothering them, just to socialize, or to get a much needed hug. That's good enough for me.

Like you, I was too selfish to have kids. My childhood was abbreviated and I always felt I wanted to enjoy "my" time more. It was in my verbal prenup when I got married at 18. I still feel the same way, no attraction for me.

Great story, Sun! :thumb: Bless you for looking after the meek. :)

"Snake chopper"? I suppose there are poisonous ones in the woods in a warm climate, escaped pet pythons?

Poisonous -- pygmy rattlers, cottonmouths, but lost of nasty non-poisonous like the Natrix. I have one good one named Harry (I always name them Harry) that is a black indian racer. He keeps the woodmice at bay :)

Dang -- I need to do some traveling and ride some of these rides! I love a wicked ride!

Eighteen? Wow! I was still acting like a twerp at eighteen! Didn't marry the first time until 25. Still didn't have good sense then or I wouldn't have done it lol.

DH was insistent. "You've GOTTA come see this," he said. He wouldn't ride a darn one of them lol.

Look, but don't touch/ride, eh?

Yeah, I was precocious...which leads to premature aging. Kind of a package!

I lucked out, still with the chick. :D

I started everything young.

Oh, one time about two years after we bought our home I was down on the hillside spraying weeds. Squirt... squirt.... squirt.... freeze! A nest of pygmy rattlers was right there where I was going to squirt next. I just stood there looking at them. They didn't move and I didn't move. I finally thought, what the hell, and I squirted them. They still didn't move. Then I poked them with the nozzle and found they were all neatly cut in half, like by a machete. Only thing is, neither of us had been down on the hillside in days.... and these were not decayed or stinky at all. How's THAT for weird?

That is simply wonderful! I love it when people are able to stay happy and in love with each other. It is such a rarity. You both have something very special.
