Call me crazy, but aren't carto tanks "old tech"? I thought that clearomizers were a step UP from carto tanks?

Personally, I currently use niether (RBAs only), but my wife uses a Vivi Nova exclusively and likes the vapor and flavor much better than her old carto tank. I also have a couple of co-workers that have switched from carto tanks to Vivi Novas.....what am I not getting here??

I'm familiar with carto tanks myself, used one for about a year and I think the Vivis are very comparable in the VTF categories - with much less hassle. I've got a Kanger Protank on order just to check out the bottom coils and I'm expecting even better results than the top coil clearos.

IMO, carto tanks are not worth the hassle when compared to a Vivi Nova or similar. Again, just my opinion.

you're KAHraaazy :) (just doing what was asked...i would never really call you crazy...for expressing your opinion ;) )

i am new but i do think that carto is "old school".
I guess i am too new with cartos to understand what is so fiddly and a hassle about them :|
someone please tell me..not "getting it" is killing me! LOL

i have 5 vivi novas and i have to fiddle with every last one of them..while vaping, adding juice, changing power supply, getting a good connection or seal..and the leaking, good lord i have never used so many q-tips in my life (not from suspect juice damaging the plastic..leaking into the battery connection)
as far as flavor/vape...for me it may be a matter of bottom coil versus top coil over carto/clearo
i tried a 1ml bottom coil nano and got way more vape/flavor and i am not constantly playing with setup to make sure the wicks are wet..figured carto was the next logical step for more vape without having only 1ml in the tank.

protank is on my radar - out of stock on most sites, my b&m doesn't carry them, and i am impulsive :D

i just grabbed one of my vivi's after using the carto...HUGE difference in vape and flavor. just my opinion :)

Protank - in stock and cheap!
Vapor Joes - Daily Vaping Deals: MIDNIGHT SALE: Kanger ProTank - $14.22

Like I said, I have very limited experience with the Vivis - just from people I know that use them. I've never heard one of them complain about leaking.

Having to refill when only half empty kinda sucks - hopefully the Kanger Pro will fix that issue with the bottom coil.

The Vivis do have connection issues - you will have to "pull your post" quite often. ;)

Now you got me curious - I'm gonna set up one of my old carto tanks tonight and give it a go side by side with my wife's Vivi. I'll report back with my findings!

Wait a sec - I take that back.

My wife did have leaking issues one time - I dissected the Vivi and found that the little rubber grommet on top of the atomizer was not making a good seal with the top cap, it was kinda being pushed off to one side when the top cap was tightened down. I found this to be the case with all 5 of the heads in that blister pack. :glare:

Anyway, hasn't happened since so I figured it was just a fluke.

people that have never had a real burger think mcdonalds is fine too :)
you're in rba land so you could say the same about any other delivery system...according to what i have read...rba is "the best", i am just not ready to jump into that pool yet LOL
I really want to try all options to see what i like the best...and don't get me wrong, i am grateful for the vivis...got me started and off of smoking which i never even planned or thought would happen!

you just listed post pulling, gromet seating, and filling when less than half full....fiddly! LOL

i'm interested in what your experiment yields :)

p.s. thanks for the vaperjoe link..i dunno why i forget to check that site regularly!

What works for one vapor does not work for another. We all end up preferring one delivery device over another.

I've given up on clearomizers. I've tried most of them (aside from the Pro Tank and Evod) and found them to be inconsistant, fussy, and often lacking with some flavors. I also did not care that they are position dependent. I find the need for frequent tipping to avoid dry hits to be annoying.

My preference is for cartotanks. For me, they provide consistancy and great flavor for all of my juices I use. They are not position dependent. They take just a little longer to set up, but for me they are worth it. I'm extremely comfortable to have a cartotank on my mod in a pocket and not worry about leakage of juice.

I'm about 2 months into using a couple of Genesis-style clone RBA's, and at times the vapor and flavor surpass the cartotanks, but still being a noobie with these they are fussy and inconsistant.

Whatever keeps you off the smokes and works for you is the best.

i use my carto tank only for outside vaping and a cheap smoketech carto lasts me about a month. i have tried most of the clearos out there. fact is that they are improving greatly ( im an old vaper, you have no idea how bad were devices 2 years ago ) but still the carto tank fills me like no other ( except for my rba ofc ). you have to bare in mind that battery is very very important for the vape quality though.

I don't know what it is...I had a DCT and I really was displeased with the performance. Was loud when I pulled on it, didn't seem to produce good vapor or taste. I really liked the idea of 6ml of liquid but now the tank just sits in my "in case of emergency" pile. Did I do something wrong? Whats the best way to start/prep a DCT?

This is the method I use, and it works great for me:

i don't think my tank has o-rings (is that a toootal newbie stupid thing to say? LOL)

LOL no such thing as a total newbie stupid thing to say! If you're using Vivi Novas or a ProTank type tank, there are no o-rings (since they are screw-on) but if you are using standard carto tanks and have to push the carto through the bottom and top, it more than likely has an o-ring that you slide the carto through. The carto tool helps TREMENDOUSLY to keep the top of the cartomozer from shredding the o-rings.

On another note...I got a ProTank last week and it has been performing excellent! I still prefer standard carto tanks ( I guess because I've been using them for so long), but this ProTank is really good stuff!

i have the Smok Ultra DCT and only one end unscrews....since i don't have a tank tool (yet lol) when i have an empty-ish tank i will take the bottom off...i haven't noticed o rings but that doesn't mean they aren't there in an unobvious place :)

i'm psychic...i see myself placing a few orders in the near future....like tonight LOL
