First of all, thanks to everyone that actively participates on this board to answer questions. I never needed to register an account because all my questions have been thoroughly answered. I wanted to register an account so I could say how happy I am that I found this site.
I've known about these e-cigs for a while but never cared to investigate further until i started reading more press about them. I really want to quit smoking but I admit that I enjoy it too much to really give it up. I can never manage to go more than a week on a quit attempt before I'm around my smoking friends bumming cigs again, which always leads to the purchase of a pack to breathe life back into my habit.
After thorough research and serious message board trolling (thanks again) I decided that e-cigs are way cheaper and much healthier than analogs. I am addicted to nicotine, so why not get it in a much safer form without a myriad of other [radioactive] chemicals. I hope to actually ween myself off nicotine by vaping, but time will tell.
The biggest motivator for me was cost savings. Yes I care about my health, but I only smoke 6-8 cigs a day, maybe more on the weekend. However, I live in Chicago where a pack of smokes is $8.50 in my neighborhood, $9.50 downtown where I work. It adds up, that's part of the reason I don't smoke as frequently. So far this month I've spent $93 on cigarettes, including the pack I bought today. I placed an order yesterday for the DSE901, an extra atty, extra pack of carts, and 4 different 10ml e-juices of Chinese origin (cheaper, will investigate USA and VG stuff later). I'm very excited about this, I hope it arrives soon enough that I don't have to buy another pack.
I'm very analytical so I started crunching the numbers (i have kept track of my cig purchases for a few months to see how much i am spending). The whole get-up that I ordered yesterday was $68, which is less than what I've spent in analogs this month alone. I average about $110/mo on analogs. It's hard to gauge how much juice i'll go through, I've tried to estimate by reading your posts, but I'm guessing I can get by on 10ml per week. I will keep track of this and compare hard cost savings from purchase of all e-juice and all accessories.
Once I get passed the initial stocking up stage (will need different chargers, batteries, etc.) I think I can keep this habit down to less than $20 a month.
I plan on using increasingly weaker e-juice and eventually get to zero nicotine.
One more thing: i've never tried an e-cigarette, so there's a chance that i might not like it at all but i highly doubt that. It provides nicotine delivery without the harsh of smoking, so that's a plus. Also, have you seen the prices for NRT products? I can buy four packs of cigs for the price of a box of gum or patches at the pharmacy. They're like $50. There's no way i'm paying that much for gum that tastes like crap or a time release patch. I want to be in control of the delivery and vaping is much more preferable.
I suppose I'll reply to this post when my shipment arrives.
Thanks for all your help!!
