Low resistance vaping and burnt vapes.

How is it that some of you vape at 3.7v with coils less than 1.5 ohms, often even lower than 1 ohm? Whenever I use my variable wattage mod at anything higher than 12 watts I get nothing but burnt tasting yuck vape! Please explain how it's possible to be vaping at 15 watts or more without the yuck.
