Depends on the device.

With lower ohms you can potentially achieve higher power output (wattage).

3.7 volts on a 1.5 ohm would give roughly 9 watts power output with ~2.4a draw. With 3 ohms resistance you would need roughly 5.2 volts to achieve the same 9 watts power output but pull less amps ~1.7a.

A 1.5 ohm dual coil is two coils in either parallel or series (depends on the manufacturer). They can be either two 3 ohm coils in parallel or two 0.75 ohm coils in series.

A single coil would get all the power to one source. A dual coil gets the power split, resulting in a slightly cooler vape with more surface area. The dual coil essentially translates to a slightly cooler vape with more vapor production when compared to a similar resistance single coil.

When it comes to the standard single coil heads for Kanger stuff this is my take on it: The 1.8 or 1.5 ohm coils just get way too hot, too fast for that design. You can't adjust your voltage down low enough to prevent them from going harsh at those resistances. I get the 2.2 or 2.5 ohm coils - in that order of preference - to allow enough "room" to use them at a lower voltage/wattage without being too hot or harsh.

In other words, at 2.2 or 2.5 ohms you could actually move your voltage/wattage on your PV low enough that you find the performance lacking. With 1.5 or 1.8 ohm even your lowest voltage may be too much power for the coil to prevent hot/harsh/nasty from happening.

Not sure where you are buying from but the OEM Kanger PT single coil heads should be 1.5, 1.8, 2.2 or 2.5 ohm resistance.

Thanks much! I have been having some harsh vapes on a few of my atomizers after 2 or 3 vapes. Been able to work with it through trial and error with the voltage an amp adjustments but your info gives me a better understanding of which way to go where heads are concerned. I bought from a number of dealers but have had the best experience with FastTech and they seem to offer all the choices you've mentioned.
