I am new to RBAs and had a heck of a time building my first decent kayfun build. The problem (if it is a problem) is that it is operating at 3.1 ohms. That's outrageously high. I am tempted to finish this tank and try again for something lower. But I am afraid of going through hell trying to build it again. Lol

By the way, the trouble I was having was getting the wire to stay under the screws on the deck. Eventually I lost one and my brick and mortar didn't have replacement parts. So I went to an eyeglasses store and they found one that fit. It has a flatter head and suddenly I was able to wrap the wire 10 times easier. If any of you are having the same problem, you might want to try my solution.

3.1 is really high ohms. You must be using really thin wire (which is a pain to wrap) ... Build your coil using 28 AWG.

10 wraps around a 3/32" (2.4mm) drill bit shaft will get you about a 1.8 ohm coil.

I am only using 30 gauge but I think I did use 9 wraps. Plus I think the wire wrapped around the screw is probably adding to it. I find 28 gauge a little hard to work with - but I didn't have the new screw at the time. I will try it next time.

Torch your wire before wrapping it and it makes it WAY easier. I would also second the 28g recommendation. I tend to always build my Kayfun with it. Though I've quickly become a fan of twisted 30.
