Currently my very favorite atomizer. I have another on my Woodvil/Easy PHI and its a killer bottom feeder as well!

I just picked up my second on a 25% off labor day sale. The flavor is off the charts like the ~14mm atties I started bottom feeding with, but with the volume and draw of a bigger atty. I like a warm moist vape and was blow away. I had to make a driptip extender and diameter reducer to get the vape that I like. I plan on making some driptips that are a bit longer with about a 7mm opening and no spit guard. I just need to get confirmation on the thread size. I measured 14mmx.75mm, but it could be a .5mm pitch. I emailed them yesterday to get confirmation before I purchase a die. Maybe, an all delrin one piece topcap would be the way to go, but outside my skill level/tools.

What kind of build do you run?

You nailed it Verb! Flavor wise, it is verrry reminiscent of the RM2. The airflow for me is spot on. I really dig these low profile atomizers and this one BY FAR takes the cake!
Interesting idea for the mouthpiece.. Im very interested to see what you come with! Pictorial please!!
Nothing crazy.. Just a dual, 2.5, 7-wrap w/24 gauge.. Been thinking about dropping down to 22 though..
You??

I'd be interested in seeing how you guys are wicking this, especially for bottom feeding. In this video the coils seems pretty far apart and the wicking packed up against the walls. Do center drips (or squonks) roll toward the wick? Or, are you also including some wicking in the center?

I'm using spaced coils. Wicking before I mount the coil. No tails at all, since the air comes in high, you can flood and drain the chamber with a squonk.

I've used 24 guage Kanthal and N80, 3mm ID. Did one 3.2mm, but was a super tight fit, to close to the insulator for comfort. 3 or 4 complete wraps with a 90 degree bend into the deck. I've tried it with each coil wrapped in the same direction (a little better flavor) and wrapped in opposite directions (helps keep the coil off the insulator).

Thanks for the pic and explanation, Verb! Picking one of these up. Intrigued by the deck and like that it already comes with BF pin.

Saw a build on Instagram where the coil zig zagged over wicking material. That also looks interesting.

Great looking build, Verb! How does it vape? Ill be honest, Ive never tried spaced coils.. I may just have t give it a shot this afternoon!

For what I like, a warm-dense-wet vape that hits instantly, the best I've had.

Spaced coils run a bit cooler, so you may need to build a little lower resistance to get the vape you like.

The LowPro looks sexy on the Easy PHI.

Warm? Dense? With no ramp up? I have to try this! Hows the flavor? My (perhaps naive) assumption has always been that un-spaced coils provide more surface area resulting in better flavor..

What is the resistance of the coils in your photo?

My first concern in building is flavor. If it's not there, I tear down and build it again. Everything I learned about wrapping coils my first year of vaping changed drastically the past six months. I was building 5-6 wrap 2mm-2.5mm contact coils. I tried just about everything in the middle of that first year: spaced, twisted, Clapton, flat wire and always came back to the simple contact micro coil. As I moved from itty-bitty atties like the reomizer 2 & 3 and cyclone to 22mm small chambered atties with bigger air I had to up the power (lower the resistance since I run mechs) to keep the flavor and warmth I liked. I started running into issues with my wicking being able to keep up and began experimenting again. By now my coil wrapping skills progressed to the point hotspots were not an issue with spaced coils like they were when I first tried spaced.

Spaced coils allow the wick to slightly squeeze between each wrap putting more surface area in contact with the wick. It's also spread over a longer length of wick surrounding it by more air aiding in evaporation. Both keep the coil running cooler which needs to be compensated for by upping the power. Going to a macro coil of 3mm-3.5mm helped the wicking keep up. In atties like the derringer or lowpro, the larger diameter coil also reduces the dead air space/empty chamber further increasing warmth and flavor. I found 3 to 4 wraps had enough surface area but kept the resistance and coil mass down. 3 wraps seemed ridiculous but the extra diameter increased the surface area enough to compensate. Also, with such a small number of wraps I found an extra wide spacing performed better.

The resistance of a spaced coil is just a bit higher than an equally wrapped contact coil due to the extra length of wire. The coil above is about .18 ohm. My draw is a medium-strong pressure of 1s-2s.

Picked mine up today and have to say I am very disappointed in the quality of materials used. The insulator for the positive block is made out of rubber. If you press the positive wire just a hair too hard you go right through it into the negative - DIRECT SHORT!

Not only is the positive insulator rubber the 510 insulator is also rubber. For the love of god why would an authentic RDA be released with such cheap insulators......

Complete PITA to build and cheap/inferior materials but it does provide a pretty good vape.

I agree, the slots in the positive block should not be cut through to the back. There should be solid metal around the back of the block to prevent the wire even reaching the insulator. The softness of the insulators is an issue too.

Building coils for this was such a pita so I just did a stove top ish coil. Rewicking is a chore though.

Stuff as much cotton as you can and it can stay moist even after 5-6 pulls @30w. Make sure to push the coil down to make good contact with the coils and is just under the air holes to maintain good air flow. Amazing flavor. Also utilises the little space it has. Fantastic for bottom feeding. You pump straight into the cotton.

What is the smallest wire, that can be trapped on this atty.... I wanted to try one BUT the heaviest wire I use is 28awg, and mostly use twisted 30-32awg builds.

I've been looking to mod one of mine to use washers or find some screws with a better head for trapping. I've had 24awg squeeze by when tightening down. So, 28awg is definitely out of the question without changing out the screws.
