I'll start, maybe some vets will chime in too.

1) Use is normal, but ensure you don't let em get "dry" while vaping. They get too hot, the wire can burn/break.
2) Don't use em on hi volt mods or on 5 volt pass-throughs. Too many watts... burn/break again.
3) Cleans normally. Cleaning is a whole can of worms in and of itself. Many threads and opinions. You may wish to try distilled water rinse, blow out, let dry or vape 'till almost dry (don't inhale the steam just "puff it"), add juice vape till it works.

P.S. Try not to clean em unless you have to.

P.P.S. Someone had to answer; we almost had another "snails" thread situation....we would have had to start a "turtles thread"... it would have been ugly. (just a little ECF joke StuckinLA... Watch for snail signatures...) FYI - If you had posted this question in the new users forum or the general area you would have had an answer in 5 minutes (man... those guys/gals are soooo fast!)

P.P.P.S. Congrats on 3 weeks.

Any way Stuck...Is it a 510 LR atty ???? If so it is probably 1.5ohms (or 1.7)...they like 3.7v to work as intended. You CAN use them on regular 510 equipment (eGo, etc), BUT,...it WILL shorten the overall life of the battery, so economically not really recommended. They use more liquid too since they are hotter. Mods are better for these....

Ok I'm new at this only been vaping for 3 weeks but will never go back to analogs. I just got my first LR atty and before I start using it I need some advise on use and cleaning since I heard they don't last as long and can easily be ruined. Thanks

AttyPops summed it up rather succinctly. The only thing I would add is to be cognizant of the first few minutes with your new LR. (think of it in terms of a new car break-in... you want to go easy with it and not rev it up until it's ready) While 2-3 drops of liquid is just fine when it is broken in, a brand new atty (esp. an LR) needs more of a feeding for a safe start to its life. I usually start with 3 drops, drag a couple of times and then drop a couple more even though the vape is strong. (lather, rinse and repeat <g>)

IOW, it is far better to err on the side of flooding than running it dry -- which is ALWAYS the case but even more important when it's brand new or freshly cleaned.

OK so I'm I to understand that using it will ruin my eGo battery? or just mean the charge won't last as long?

The learning curve seems insurmountable at first, Stuck. Especially when compared to:

-- remove analog from pack
-- strike Bic
-- light cancer stick afire <g>

But, it doesn't take long at all to catch on and find your personal "sweet spot". Too many responses, although well-meaning, does tend to confuse. I found that with vaping it's best to jump right in. =)

It won't "ruin" the eGo battery...it works great.. usage time between charges will be shorter due to load on it with the LR atty. (And overall life if the battery/same stress reason).

(When I use my eGo's I use the LR atty 'cause I don't care about the longevity...some people care)

lol... classwife.. Good points. You too Richie G

Ummm.... I've heard "rumors" that some of the batteries (EGO/vGo/016, others?) may wear out faster using LR atties... the MOSFET power regulator isn't necessarily able to hold up to that amount of current. May vary depending on the exact resistance of the atty and the exact model/revision of the battery. I don't think they "go poof" right out of the box, but I think that they have a shortened lifetime due to extra power draw. Note this is all a bit of hearsay right now, but it makes sense. Then, of course, there is the reduced time between charges, and more frequent charging.

That said, a TON of people use LR atties with EGO batteries and absolutely love em (both the batteries and the atty). I'd say, if you like the EGO type stuff, just get 1 extra battery just to be safe. We vapers usually keep a spare or two anyway.

I use 3.7 volt "box" mods (using AA size 900 mah batteries) and I'm kinda 50/50 on the LR atty thing. The regular atties don't "burn" the juice as much - you have to keep LR atties well fed. Some "regular" atties are 2.5 ohm, some 3.0 ohm. So it varies also.

Good luck StuckinLA, let us know how it works out.
