LR Cartomizer questions.

I just got a pack of LR carts from Halo because I finally figured out how to use them decently. I loaded one up with some Southern Comfort from Halo and noticed that I get no flavor, a burning taste and if anything it feels like I'm sucking the smoke off of burning paper. I'm double checking and the poly fill isn't burning. I understand that LR cart should vape warmer, but this is almost hotter than when I used to smoke analogs. Am I doing something wrong or is there something I need to know? I put over 15 drops of juice in so I know it's properly filled. I'm also using a drip tip on the cart.

Oh and the hit seems a bit harder too.

I used to use LR's exclusively to replicate analogs while transitioning. They heat up very quick almost hot to the touch especially at the bottom of the carto after back to back pulls, and require a rest or else it tastes horrid.

Southern Classic does not tolerate heat well and breaks down at a lower temperature than other flavors.

Try loading up a second LR with a different flavor, see if it burns.

I tried the LR cartomizers and I learned real quick I prefer a cooler vape. But you could try Voodoo in the LR since I know it likes warmer temperature. Definitly stay away from Belgian Cocoa it likes it cooler. Thoughts but not experience - Tribeca, Torque and Prime should be good at warmer temps. :)

Just loaded up a mini-tank with Southern Classic and noticed a big difference. Got any suggestions for a good halo juice to use with a LR cart? I've got several.

Eric

Southern Classic is my go to 24/7, I vape it in my sleep. So delicious. :)

Mini-tanks are known to heat up quite a bit as well, only a tad less than LR cartos. They produce more flavor.... nowhere near as much as a Triton tank, but I digress.

Menthols do tolerate heat well, they have a less complicated profile so the temp can be custom tailored, especially on a VV with high resistance coils.

Some of the other tobacco flavors Evie mentioned handle heat alright, but you'll have to put them through the paces because taste is subjective.

I like Malibu in the LR cartos.

Cartos really get as close to an analog as you can IMO.

Especially when nearing the end of the e-liquid you have loaded in them. Then you get a very realistic taste off them.

Of course you are only a small number of puffs from dead dry at that point.

If you load them up with a strong juice you can just about recreate that nasty baccy "jeeze! I've smoked too much" dry throat feeling we all know so well.

Not saying it's a good thing, but sometimes a big nasty throat hit is just what you need.

Not sure what the carto condom method is, but I just put a few drops in and let it absorb then keep adding more until the top of the poly fill looks like a wet sponge. I'm probably adding close to 30 drops, but I can't get all OCD about keeping count.

Eric

Anyone tried Captain Jack in an LR?

The silicon caps that the cartos come in: those are carto condoms. You take the large one, stand it on end, fill it up not quite half way with e-liquid, then push the carto connector down slowly into the cap letting the liquid soak in along the way. Let it sit for a while then blow it out from the connector end and you are good to go. If you put too much in it will take a while for the carto to get going properly. Then you can just top it off from the filler end every now and again. Some people like to do it from the filler end.

The advantage to using the "condom" fill method is that you get a more even distribution and get the ejuice flowing to the coil better. I find that the LR cartomizers vape well, but are less forgiving about how they are filled than the standard resistance cartos.

You know, logic would make you think poly end first but in reality, I find it more consistent to fill from the connector end (using the condom method).

If your carto is properly filled you should not be getting a burnt taste.

When filling you should see the juice peaking up through the filler.

Here's another fill method:

If you have a needle nose bottle, drip some juice on top of the filler, then work the needle nose down along the side, between the carto and filler, and slowly fill. the idea is to get down below the filler with the needle nose.

Matter of fact, if you are getting a burnt, plastic taste, my recommendation would be for you to recycle that carto and start with a fresh one. Burnt plastic means you're frying the filler material. That puppy is dead. I only use a couple of cartos at a time. When the vape goes off for any reason it's time for a re-fill or for a new carto. They are cheap.

Saundhaus,

Just wondering, why are you even messing around with carto's anyways? IMO the Triton tanks deliver such a better taste, vape and far less burning. So I am just curious to your motivation for using carto's instead of a tank.

I know you're asking Saundhaus and not ME, but I'll offer up an answer: I prefer cartomizers (with a cone) on a 400 mAh Triton when I'm out and about. It is an ultra compact setup that I can just stuff in my jean or shirt pocket and not worry as much about it cracking or leaking. Compared to a tank, I also think it has a more innocuous appearance (to the ignorant) and attracts less attention in public spaces.

Thanks for the answer Tech;

Only a few months into this myself, but i can easily fit a 650mAh Triton and a Tank in a shirt pocket or jeans pocket, never had one leak (yet) and very easily 1 handed palm hit it, wihtout anyone seeing it. But i can see how 9/16ths of an inch can make a difference to some in their ability to go stealth.
