I've used both and would say they are different. First off the 510 connection on the clearo is silver in appearance and gold on the megas. The coil on the clearo is vertical, located near the base of the carto, and has no wicking material inside the coil. The coil on the megas is horizontal, located about half way up the carto, and has added wicking material inside the coils.

My personal preference is for the single coil clearos because with my daily eliquid I get better taste and vapor production. However, I prefer the tube from the megas for looks and durability. So I actually remove the clear tube and replace it with a mega tube.

Woah! Mad!! The clears are my favorite as well. But I have a few where the clear tube came off due to abuse. I'm not gentle with things.

1) How do you get the black tubes off?

2) How do you getthe black to stay on the base when you replace the clear?

Thanks!

The tubes I've been using so far were removed the same way as your clear tubes...accidentally. I have a (bad?) habit of keeping anything that I think I might remotely be able to use or repurpose. With IKV being down, I've been cleaning and re-using the SCs a lot, and several had started cracking or completely coming off the metal base. So I just grabbed the old tubes, figuring they'd work just as well. Getting them to stay on isn't a problem, it's getting them on that requires some effort. Make sure the wicking material is still tight around the coil and leads, and then feed that into the tube. Line the base up and you should be able to get it a little ways into the tube. Once it's started, I covered the connection end with an carto condom and then tapped it down with a rubber mallet. The ones I've done so far are in there tight, I'm not able to pull them apart pulling straight up. I'll probably need to use vice grips and apply some side to side torque to remove the connector when I swap them out next.

I wonder if the clears will fit into a Riva Cone. Anybody tried this?

No they wouldn't fit for the cones I had. I used my dremel and removed a bit from the narrow end of the cone to widen it enough to fit over them. I've read there are a few companies that sell different cones now that do fit, but can't remember which ones. You could probably ask in the where can I get sub-forum and someone should know.
