A big DUH on me!! I asked this in the general forum when I should have asked THE expert here, Isaac. And, all of the other geniuses that hang out in Ikenland.

I tend to stick with SR cartos because I use VV and get a little trigger happy and burn out the LRs. But, my wife uses a VW device. She vapes constantly! (I call it Chief'n). But, at a consistent low wattage.

Is there any technical reason that LR or SR would last longer than the other at the same constant heat?

I know battery life would be better on LR, but I'm not as concerned with that as I am with carto longevity.

Thanks!!

The hotter the coils (anyones coils) get the faster the metal they're made from deteriorates.

Here's something I found on stove burners called blistering from having food dripped on them and as they age. Isn't that what we're doing when we put ejuice on our carto coils?

Blistering
Blistering occurs on heating elements as they age and the metal has degraded. This can also occur when food drips directly onto the heating element while the oven is on. The metal on the heating element will actually bubble up and blister, causing a break in the electrical continuity. This is irreparable damage, and you’ll need to replace the heating element to fix the oven.

LR is a 'thicker' wire than SR. At the same wattage, batt life will be shorter (due to greater amp draw) but wire (coil) life will be longer. The thicker the wire increases structural integrity.

As far as hotter at the same wattage, that's an interesting question and something to ponder. I would imagine they would be the same temp (or so very close) as we're talking about 0.0020 of an inch different... Hmmm....

No the lower the resistance the bigger diameter the wire.

Think of it as a garden hose and the tap is fully open. A thinner (HR) hose will resist that water flow more that if you had a fatter (LR) hose which would resist less.

Now the only other variable is length. With RBA's that can vary quite a bit. But in cartos (I've been told) and especially atty the length is limited by space and it is done solely with diameter.

Now with Isaacs mad skills and tinkering for perfection, you never know what he does to Keep the goodness from ever stopping :)

There we go!! I knew there had to be a technical difference in there somewhere. Thanks Wharf!!! But.... I was thinking the batt life would be longer on LR since it needs less juice to get the same heat. No?

I think I'll start getting my wife LRs and see how it goes. But, I'd sure like to hear from Mr. Isaac! Just in case some of his magic makes another difference.

Thanks!
