Hi all,

Been lurkin around for a few weeks and picked up a Mistic starter kit at walmart last week (menthol tastes ok, battery and cart lasts me all day) and tried a puff off a friends newport and it was disgusting, that in its self is awesome.
Decided to upgraded and get it over with early :D and ordered a 3.7v Box mod kit and a bottle of Rootbeer an Caramel Apple from madvapes and a Bottle of Rice Krispy Treats from Kickbassvapors. and now as you guys say ill be stalking the mailman. lol

But Just wanted to say thanks
Peace

Hey, welcome to ECF!

I will be totally honest -- don't lurk, ask questions. It's amazing what sort of helpful hints people have to offer here. :) As not everything works for everybody (different strokes for different folks, all of that), you'll still want to test a bit... but honestly, I do more testing with the flavors than with the PVs now (although I am still playing around with PVs... went to a vaper meet today and had wide-eyed fascination all the way through it). I will admit I'm looking at a box mod a lot more seriously now. :D

Enjoy!

Welcome!!! How darn clever of you! Your lurking obviously paid off big time, because it took me years and a whole lot of $$$ before I got smart enough to buy a Box Mod from MV and Rice Crispity Treats from KBV!!! My two favorite combinations, and exactly what I am puffing on right now (although my BoxMod is VV).

Hi, and welcome. :)

The Mistic seems to be quite reasonable on their kits, but around where I live the cartos are priced like the Blus: 5 for $15. When I researched what connection type that they might be, many said that they looked like 808D, and one said emphatically that they were 901-type. Those two types are the same threading, but have different airflow paths which make some of the four possible combinations bad. It may be worth trying out a 901 or 808d carto, so you can order blanks at more reasonable prices.

Box mods are pretty cool, though. I would suggest reading up on the forum about battery safety before using one, though. I'm building my second one this weekend. My first box mod was a variation of the Puck e cig, where I used a 4AAA box for the batteries and a 2AAA box for the electronics, leaving the kill switch on the 4AAA box. It's pretty small, and I made a 'slug' that I could put in place of one of the batteries to change it from 5v to 3.75v.

It is larger and heavier than a small li-ion box mod would be, but I prefer to deal with Ni-Mh batteries that I can buy in most stores (because they are not scared to sell those...) The battery life is great on the AAA one, but the AAs boast around 3x the capacity of the AAAs, so I'm building a 3AA version, using a 1AA for the guts, and it's barely any bigger than the 4AAA one. I used 510 connectors from GoodProphets for both of them, instead of the homemade 901 connector. Either is a little heavy for a T-shirt pocket, but fine for a heavier shirt or jacket.

Anyway, I decided not to buy the Mistic kit, and got an 1100mah eGo-type kit (510 style). While the battery life is amazing on these, they are annoyingly long. Put a CE2 XL carto on one of those, and it sticks out of my shirt pocket 2.5 inches. I'm probably going to buy some 650mah Rivas for away from home.

If you ever get into DIY liquid, I'd recommend trying Capella's flavor drops. Good luck with your ordered flavors! That's something that can take a lot of trials to find what you like, and from whom.

Thanks, and thats a awesome coincidence.

And @LucentShadow
Another thread figured out that its a kr808d-1 but with a bit longer thread 808d-1 cartos work but show a bit of a gap between carto and battery but a small washer could fix that. Im also planning on building The Puck. and thanks for the link on the batteries. Ill probably get into DIY liquid but not right now. soo much to learn as it is lol

Welcome to the ECF bro. Your gonna love this place, and every time you log on will sew your fabric into electric cigarettes and unstitch you from the deadly tobacco combustion. I'm interested in buying a cheap box mod, but I'm also interested in buying myself a variable voltage device. And with VV devices being on sale right now, I'm really interested in buying one. Honestly, I make less than $100 a week and its VERY hard for me to get into e-cigs, but I know that my life is worth much more than anything else. So welcome to Ecf, your going to hopefully learn a lot and make a ton of friends, some life-long friends. (And you'll keep the life-long friends you've made here much longer than you'll keep the cigarette smoking ones) Have a good one man!

Plumes.91, if finances are tight and you want a BoxMod and a VV device, why don't you get the VV BoxMod from MadVapes? They have the usual BoxMods and the VV BoxMods! Just make sure you have at least 4 batteries, so that you can change to 2 fresh ones while 2 are charging. I have one, and honestly I use it more than my Provari! I love it to bits!

dragonbone, wow thats very encouraging. I was looking at the VV boxmods at Madvapes but I'm afraid to make the jump and end up missing out on the LavaTube/L-Rider sales popping up right now. I'm afraid. I accidently got juice in one of my 510 batteries so I'm definitely looking for something new, and stronger hitting. I'm just not sure if I should buy the Madvapes boxmod just to save $20-30 over the LT/Lrider... I really have a huge decision to make!

I suppose some would say that the LavaTube is better. But I honestly LOVE my BoxMod with a LR cartomizer - awesome hit! I have other tube mods and a Provari, so maybe that is why the LavaTube doesn't appeal to me personally right now. I was interested at first though... But then realized that I just don't need it.
I just love the VV Box Mod, it is much more comfortable in my hand than the cold hard Provari (shhh, don't tell anyone I said so). I must mention that I have full nail art sticker and laminating gloss on it, which makes it much more appealing to feel, to look at and also much stronger. Just the cheap plastic box bare, could probably crack with a hard fall. Maybe someone else can chime in?

If money really is very very tight and it can ONLY be one, and you have no other VV tube mods, I think that the LavaTube is probably safer in the long run (harder to break). Or get the discounted LavaTube AND build your own VVBox Mod for $17 with their kit???

You will be better off with the madvapes' vv box mod. The LT is an okay mod but not what I call a true VV. It will self regulate down to where it "thinks" the voltage should be no matter how high you set it. When I set a device at 5.5V, I expect it to stay there...not move it down to protect itself. The madvape's box mod won't do this...where you set it is where it will stay.
