Bobbi, I use cartos unpunched without a tank. I like Ikenvape the best of the two brands that I've tried. I have not tried the Smok though. These in the link below are the ones I use. They're wonderful, and the taste is fabulous! The owners name is Isaac, and he is just soooooo awesome. Their customer service is absolutely wonderful!! The only downside is, he sells out quickly, and then you have to wait for things to come back in stock. So, if you order, keep that in mind, but the cartos last WEEKS for me!! I know I'm over a month on the 5 I've been using daily.
510 Mega Fusion LR Punch! 2.0
I use the medicine type dropper for these. I put a toothpick in the very center tube to keep that from getting flooded.
Thing is Bobbi, the cartos should taste the same whether they are used with a tank, or without. It's my understanding the tank is just to give a constant liquid feed so you don't have to fill as often as you do just an unpunched carto.
I have an IBTanked in transit, so I'm excited to try a carto tank.
I use my Pro Tank for the most part, because it's so convenient, but I also vape on my cartos daily too.
Right now, I'm vaping with my WyVern that I got going on Christmas, and it's vaping like a champ!!
Here is a pic of the WyVern without the top pieces on. It looks very similar when assembled to the one Dale showed you earlier that she just ordered. This one has the tiny phillips head screws instead of the brass assembly in the one Dale ordered.

You can click on it so it's a little bigger, that was my first attempt at a coil wrap, last summer....it worked too!!!

I believe the WyVern is a knock off of the Phoenix type, but I can't remember for sure. Those of that style are all so similar, I can't imagine one truly vapes a lot differently than another. But that's just my thought.
Welsh, I have a ProVari mini, with the extender for the larger battery. I've been very pleased with mine, not one complaint at all. But, I only have it, 3 regular ego type, and one VV twist type ego.
I personally don't have good luck with purchases. I always get the defective one, that breaks right away, so I wanted the extra long warranty, and I even spent the $20 or so for the additional year, so that gave me a two year warranty. But Bobbi is absolutely right, you can get several mods for the same $$, but when I bought mine, there was no FT, at least not that anyone knew of, and even the Vamos were (I want to say) $60-$70.00, before the batteries. Truthfully, I would think that power/voltage isn't going to be any different in the other variable voltage devices vs. a ProVari, but that's just my opinion, I can't back that with any facts. You know there may be something about constant voltage vs. voltage that diminishes as the battery weakens, so that initial statement may in deed be off. But, to me, power is power.
The ProVari camp would disagree with me no doubt, but I also don't beat up my mod, and some guys truly need one that can stand up to being dropped on concrete, and otherwise tortured. I think they may have an edge in that dept., but again, I can't even say that for sure.
