Made The Swtich - 4 Days analog FREE!

Greetings All,

Having smoked for roughly 12 years, I knew what I was doing wasn't healthy but just couldn't bring myself to quit. Then, about two weeks ago my dad of all people sent me a news article about e-cigs and got me thinking.

I figured I'd give it a try since I knew that I couldn't quit cold-turkey, so I hopped over to the local gas station to try out some NJOY disposables. At first I wasn't sold, and continued to smoke analogs along with the disposables, desperately trying to figure something out that would help me quit.

It was then that I decided to do some internet "research" and ended up at the V2 cigs site. I got my starter kit and everything I needed to make "the switch." After getting my kit and finding a couple of flavors that I liked (though strangely enough not at first) I knew that with the right equipment this could, no must, work for me.

After being introduced to the world of ecigs with V2, I decided to do some actual research to see what else I was missing. This brought me to ECF, and the treasure-trove of knowledge and experience of its members.

While the V2 was working just fine, I knew I needed that "extra something" to make this switch last, so after some consideration and me being a noob, I went ahead and bought the Halo Triton starter kit as it seemed to included everything I needed to continue my journey in one neat, easy-to-use and noob-friendly package.

After getting the Triton I knew for sure that I could make this work if I tried hard enough. I love this thing! I had gear that worked great for me, one backup device (V2) and some pretty standard juices (I like the simple flavors right now), so now all I needed was to make the promise to myself to stick with vaping.

I smoked my last analog on Friday, July 12th at around lunch time, and haven't looked back. I am now 4 days in, and while that may not seem like that long it is the longest I have gone without an analog since college. I can't believe it, it's like a new world has opened up. It's been tough so far though, as most of my co-workers smoke, but vaping now tastes so much better that I can stand near them at the smoking area and not bum one of their real smokes.

I do still want to smoke, and the nights and mornings have been especially rough, but I'm hanging in there and committed.

When did the urges and thoughts get better for you all?

Apologies for the long post, but I needed to get it out there to like-minded folk, as the people I know that smoke aren't interested in vaping and I know of no-one else that does vape, so it's a solo-mission for now. And again, all of the people who've successfully made the switch and posted about their experiences and trials are keeping me strong, so thank you all!

No need to apologize for the long post! That is a GREAT intro!
First and foremost, welcome to ECF!

4 days is something to be proud of! You're doing great. The urges will start to go away little by little over the next few days. Before you know it, you'll find cigarettes to be disgusting.
Just keep it up and you'll be fine. And, of course, you have us here for support :)

The constant urge really fades when you have a set up your happy with and a flavor you like. In the beginning it might be advisable to go for a higher nicotine level to keep you "satisfied". For example 18 was too weak for me so I upped it to 24mg and it made a big difference.

Still tho if I'm out with friends, enjoying a beer in the nice summer sun...I do still feel that a real cig would be nice. But not as much as I used to.

Really the only thing to keep you going unless you are super motivated is to find something you enjoy more than the traditional cig.

Good luck :)

Thanks for the support everyone, it means alot! I've been mostly vaping 1.2, but have some 1.8 and 2.4 for those rough mornings when the urge hits.

I was a PAD Camel guy, but I'm able to function doing the 1.2 throughout the day without too much trouble so far.

I'm thinking I'm going to stay this course until I can get down to .6, but I don't want to push too fast and throw myself off.

Mid-way through day 6 right now and I think I'm doing pretty well. No analogs but I keep wondering if I'm vaping too much. I know that for alot of posters this is more of a hobby than a smoking-cessation aid, but for myself quitting is the ultimate goal. Not just analogs, but eventually vaping as well.

I'm using 1.2% right now and am thinking about making the switch to .6% maybe next week or the week after, I just want to make the switch as easy as possible and not throw myself off. Like I said I'm only on day 6 of no analogs, and judging by other posters here this seems pretty quick to swing down to a lower nic level but I think I can manage.

Anyways, I really do appreciate the words of encouragement from the lot here on ECF, you guys give me tremendous confidence!

I started with a smoke shop cheapie, then got my V2 cigs. Haven't smoked since May 10, the day the V2 kit arrived. It was the most painless quit ever!

I don't know that I ever got true cravings. I always kept my smokes in the car so I'd have to go get one when I wanted it. Even now, sometimes I step off the back porch and my brain wants to head to the car for a cigarette. I just have to think "I don't smoke anymore", and go grab my ego. But that's happening less and less, and it's so nice to be able to breathe again!

Congrats Wiz, I've been a Marb Red PAD since I was 12, (17 years ago) longest I ever went without a cigarette was 1 month back on deployment in 2007. I quit a few hours before you at 12:20am on the 12th. For me the switch has been surprisingly easy but I believe it is because I am extremely motivated. I've only had a couple real urges when my gf was smoking a red and I could really smell that beautiful little friend. But I resisted and it's getting better every day. Keep being positive about it and it will get easier.

Edit: I know this is showing my ubergeek colors but I have this spreadsheet to keep me motivated as well.

I'm also a 7/12/13 quitter! Smoked my last cigarette last Friday on the way home from work. Took my first vape when I got home. Haven't looked back. Seems like quite a few people decided to quit that day. My cravings are still there only at certain times. I would say in the morning is the worst. So far I'm having trouble finding flavors I can stick with for more than a few hours. I was a menthol smoker and the menthol flavor I have is OK, but it gets old quick so I switch to Cinnilla (picked it up locally), but that gets old too, so I switch back and forth all day. I have 5 new flavors in the mailbox waiting for me today so hopefully this will help.

Stay a quitter and live longer.....good luck!
