I think road testing with new drivers would have anyone on pins and needles. That's got to be hard.

I had to drive 3 people back, because I was uncomfortable with them taking me any further on the road. Almost had a head on collision with one person. and sadly that is not the first near accident while doing this:facepalm:

I work in pharmacy and the number of people on amphetamines is staggering. Why would you willingly take a neurotoxic, soul/empathy crushing, substance like that?

I mean don't get me wrong, speed is great, I can see why people would look to it to cure every ill, but when you see people on Adderall XR, IR, then zolpidem to sleep, lorazepam for anxiety attacks (exacerbated by the Adderall), and bupropion for depression (which is contradictory to having anxiety as SDRIs usually worsen anxiety) you have to wonder: "Does anyone have any coping mechanisms anymore?"

Says the guy physically dependent on Tramadol. So take this hypocrite's words with the tiniest grain of salt. :) I just feel bad for these kids who are so medicated.

A son with his mother when picking up a risperidone (antipsychotic) and methylphenidate (ritilan, a stimulant) prescription for the first time.
"Mommy I'm so happy now I get to take a pill just like my brother!"

Made me sick to my stomach. Was this child doing this just for attention? I don't know. It really irks me, but what are you going to do?

I would have to agree with you. As I said as a kid ADD was more like a joke. It was like make-believe. I would not even be using meds if I wasn't working on a Master's degree right now. I cope well without the meds, but school wise as intense as school is I definitely need it. I actually am of the mindset that it is my superpower and it makes me good at what I do and the constant changes that happen in a day sometimes hour to hour. IMO:)

dykealiscious I do have ADD diagnosed as an adult. As a kid ADD was just some mystical bs I heard about and did not think it was real. My meds do work, but the added stimulant at this time has kind of made me crash and burn I have overcaffienated myself and added something else to the mix. For me and this particular med not good and I know better. I was coming down off the time release meds. I guess more specific wise Inattentive ADD is what I have as the doctor would say.

Thanks for the concern just changed dosage also...may be throwing everything else out of whack for what would be normal any other day.
You're the expert on you jassy! :D

So much research shows the body and mind can't repair without being free and clear. I had really bad bipolar since I was a kid. Stopped meds in 2007 after years of being med sick and Sorta kinda controlled. Did the real hard work of therapy and spiritual healing and have been med free and relatively symptom free since. That's not to say meds aren't necessary sometimes. Buddhism can teach a lot about the healing power of mindfulness techniques. My clients recover from severe trauma if they want to do the work. But a person is at where they are at and it is ok.

I had a bit of fun a couple of years ago, I had changed insurance plans and had to choose a primary care physician. Every single one assumed the interview appointment I scheduled was because I had some sort of malady, even though I made the purpose abundantly clear when making the appointment. Once we got past the 'no, I don't need care right NOW, I'm picking a primary care physician and have a few questions for you' stage (which, interestingly, some balked at. Apparently it's so good being a doctor in America now you can feel you're somehow above vetting by potential patients/customers), not a one got past my first question:

"Are you willing to divulge which pharmaceutical companies you have a formal or recurring informal relationship with? Which ones provide any kind of incentive to prescribe their products?"

Not one would answer that question. NOT ONE. As a result, I don't have a primary care physician. If I wanted a standing relationship with a pusher I'd head to the sketchier side of town and get an adrenaline dump as a free bonus.

You just have to practice! I was like this at first too (just only got my license about 6 mo ago) but now it very rarely happens. I am worried for the snow though as I have very little experience driving in it. Snow banks are soft right? Heh...
Um, living in snow country up here in the mountains where it snows from October through April, I can definitely say no. No, snow banks are not soft. Lol well, some are, but most are made by compacting snow and that is most definitely not soft. Even still, just being cautious on the road when it's snowing makes you a better driver than most!

Looks delicious, I'm a hot, but not super hot lover so they might be too much for me. Can't wait to see some "reviews". :D

larruping it is called in actuality a churro. Just fried donut goodness. Here they are so common it is ridiculous. They are really good with caramel and with vanilla ice cream.

I used to be a waitress in a Santa Fe restaurant where they had a fried thing called "sopapilla"-- yummy fried flour tortilla, usually with sugar syrup on top. Sounds kind of similar.

I just rebuilt one of my aspire nautilus coils for the first time. :) I am getting ready to test it and see how it works.....

Edit: it is working great! No leaking or gurgling! My fear was that even though I knew the ohms were right I was afraid that I did not put the coil in perfect and it would gurgle, flood, or leak.... but evetything is good :) Yay!

Ummm except that stimulants are what slows down ADD. It increases dopamine and norepinephrine. If you have ADD and stimulants don't work, you don't have ADD. just sayin'. It is supremely over diagnosed and the same behavior can be accounted for by survivors of emotional and physical trauma. Ask a kid with add what's going on at home and guess what? Its not add. Just a little educational hour from your ecf therapist.

In other thoughts I'm sorry you're feeling off jassy.

Not to invalidate anyone's experience, but ADD isn't even a legitimate diagnosis, as far as I can tell. ( i've spent some time trying to tell.) It's some sort of condition the parents have--the way they feel about their kids' behavior.
Anyway, there are no bio-markers for it. Which puts it in the same category as most psychiatric "disorders". But people (doctors, even) seem to give ADHD a big boost by describing it as a neurological condition even in the cases (doctors) where they know jolly well there isn't any definitive evidence for that.

It is, as you say, dykie, "supremely over-diagnosed". But we want our kids to SIT STILL, ......mit! So we've collectively found a way, courtesy big pharma. How convenient for everyone. It's revolting the levels we're now drugging our kids in this country. Kids are supposed to run around and be hyper and say inappropriate things, doesn't anybody remember?
/END rant

jassy, I don't mean you - adult add is a different topic IMO and if you use stimulants to treat it successfully, more power to you. I suspect a lot of people with concentration issues smoke or vape because of the wondrous powers of nicotine to focus the senses. I remember a time when I couldn't imagine being able to do my homework or write anything without a cigarette. sorry to seem judgmental if I do. I am...i do have judgments. but not of you!

Attention issues are a problem, but more so for adults. Kids are little cavemen with short attention spans anyway. Add stress in the home and attachment issues and that accounts for all of it. I'm really more interested in late onset "add/adhd" e.g. adults, and the etiology of that. Again, I have yet to find an adult that didn't have some very sad stories somewhere in their past with that dx (shorthand for diagnosis FYI). My goal as a therapist is to say f@ck dx with exception to insurance billing and work with the symptoms themselves if they cause distress. Labeling people is stigmatizing, useless and provides an "excuse" that some people use to forgo ownership of their behavior rather than really engage in self-exploration and healing when they simply don't want to. Everyone plant your feet firmly on the ground, get grounded and do some breath work with me...1....2....3......go!

I'm stuck using my tablet right now and the ecf app doesn't support pm as far as I can tell. I tried using the mobile website but apparently it didn't work.
