Hello all, Allazar here with a few questions about a setup through madvapes.com:

Here's what I'm thinking... I want to get:

--the manual carto set (10260)
--the eGo mega Dual Coil Carto (3109)
--(or the mad vapes dual core (3140) if the eGo ones don't fit... do they? I haven't been able to figure it out)
--the 510 tank atty and cart set... a lot of folks at work swear by the tanks... and at that price, it couldn't hurt.

would this work, that is, will all the parts fit?

Thanks so much for being here for noobage like me! Look forward to hearing from you!!

Welcome to ECF Allazar. The ego is 510 so pretty much anything 510 should work on it. As for tanks, I've heard of leakage problems but haven't used one myself. Dual coils are generally not recommended for ego style batteries as they can kill the battery (low resistance at 1.5 ohms) over time.

I'll recommend what I've been recommending to all new members who aren't only looking for a cig sized device. I recommend the Riva kit (ego clone) from liberty flights for $30 (be sure to click the 20% off button in top left) and Boge low resistance (2 ohm) cartos from crystalclearvaping.com (15 cartos for $20 with free shipping). Add juice from a reputable vendor and you're good to go for quite some time.

thanks for the fast reply!
I didn't look the Riva or the ego-T (what my friends use) because I still need a discrete PV, something small that can be tucked away, which is why I am looking at the 510 kits. The battery on the MadVapes site is not a eGo, and they offer their own brand, so i think I should be good there.

(my buddy over here is nodding at your recommendation... I think she has your setup!)

What would y'all suggest for a girl that needs a good, but discrete PV?

All cartos kill batts over time!

How many eGo type batts have you lost due to dual coil cartos?

It's becoming obvious, due to my personal and others' observations and posts, that your statement no longer holds any 'water'. I'm a very heavy vaper and have yet to lose an eGo batt (650, 900 & 1000) in over two months of heavy vaping with dual coils. And my batts are at least three months old in that I bought some used right after I started vaping.

Yes, I've read of folk that 'lost' batts due to dual coil cortos in the past, but not recently. Actually, I wonder how many of those batt/cart combos had center post issues as opposed to dual coil induced failures.

One more item... Would Mad Vapes sell THIS KIT with the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers if the cartos would 'destroy' the batts? I think not!

I don't mean to get huffy, but I think it a shame that the best eGo combo I've tried (been through 'em all) is being maligned unjustifiably, guiding many new vapers away from a very fulfilling vape!

But what do I know? I'm just the 180# vapinig ol' fart in da room...

What is your battery? If you got a slim 510 then you cannot put any low resistance atomizers or cartomizers on it. Low resistance stuff is for batteries 450mah or larger like Ego, Riva 510 and mods. So on a slim 510 stay with 2.5 ohm or higher (and 2.5 ohms will use up a battery faster than 2.8-2.0). I recommend getting plain Boge standard resistance (2.8-3.0) cartomizers for it. I also strongly recommend manual batteries.

Also any attys/cartos called Ego rather than 510 might be wider than a slim 510 battery (as wide as the thick metal cowl around the threads of Ego)

Thanks for this info. I had been wondering whether my 650 battery would be able to handle a dual carto setup.:thumb:

Allazar,

I see you're in Austin. I suggest you google "All About Vapor". They have an actual store up in Roundrock and they sell Joye products, accessories and their own line of liquids. Go see them and you'll be able to put your hands on actual hardware and try some flavors.

They'll answer any questions you might have. I found talking to an actual person helped a LOT when I was getting into vaping.

I'm not altogether thrilled with that kit Iffy.

If there's an issue with the batteries not working with the cartos without a fix then that should be stated in the ad. It's a good deal but it's not bargain basement pricing. I expect something to work when I buy it without having to watch a video to fix it. And my issue is a battery issue, not a carto issue. And I'm not the only one to have the problem.

Some of the vendors do state that. I don't know if the ego dual coil cartos are different or not.

Using them, I definitely have to charge my batteries more often but I've been using them on my oldest batteries which are over6 months old. I really don't care if anything happens to them. Well, I care but if one died I wouldn't be upset. These are Joye batteries and they had a 6 month warranty so they weren't under warranty.

I'm more upset about the brand new batteries not working.

Granted it's not the best deal I've seen. But it's the only kit with the eMDCCs.

I have five different styles of eGo type batts and those cartos fit all of 'em. I'm not sure which fix you speak of, unless it's the closeout batts on Mad Vapes that were $9.99. Those had to be 'trimmed'. But the ones in the kit are good to go.

Due to the great performance of my combos, I really don't care if I get only, say, 75% of normal batt life. If one dies tomorrow, I'll just replace it. Two days of cig money and I've got a batt that will last, at the very least, three months. I'll wager that my originals will last six months...

To put it in perspective, even at three months, it's only $.17 a day!!!

BTW, I got my 20 eMDCCs yesterday. Wanted to get some in case the price went up on 'em.

I think the ones in the kit are the closeout batteries. If I'd have known that I wouldn't have bought them. Last time I'll ever buy knockoff batteries. My Joye batteries are over 6 months old and never a problem.

The cartos work with every battery I have, Joye and Riva. They do not work with the batteries from the kit.
