Well, the ShortStop has a 5A limit. In a perfect world with no voltage drops and a new battery, that's about .8ohms. Of course, once the voltage drops, you could take it lower. I'm mainly going to use it when wrapping/testing new coils that are too low for my eVic to fire.

Thanks for the info. I made a new coil at .7ohms last night and am using the short stop on a 18350 battery. Working fine so far.

Try torching your entire wick first (or boiling it). As for 30ga, I think 3/4...kinda depends on how thick the wick is. You could take a multimeter and check out how much wire equals 1ohm, then making sure to use that amount to make the coil. You will use a longer length when actually wrapping, but the important portion is the length used to make the coil and the leads into the posts. You will just trim off the excess.

I boiled the wick that I have, then re wrapped it with a 3/4 and that solved my problems. Great taste and pretty good vapor. Next I think I will drill in a second airhole like beanpusher suggested and see if that ups my vapor production. I also really want to figure out a way to shorten the connection to the battery so it can sit flush on my mod. I posted it in the other thread (Octopus rda thread) but here is a pic of my setup, looks pretty cool for under $50

Bro i like that mod....u would have to sand the connection on the mechanical. Use like a 200 grit or higher so it doesn't leave deep scratches.

Went to my local vape shop and picked up a mech mod. Gonna venture into the SLR world. :evil grin:

Do you boil/soak everything just for assurance, bean, or is this suggested/recommended/advised for silica/cotton? I got some 2mm cotton from my SS mesh purchase on eBay, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yes i boiled the cotton for like 5 mins paper towel dry as best i could and then microwaved it.

After doing some reading, I've got this thing putting out huge clouds! First, I bored out the stock air hole on the cap to 1/16 then I did the same to the air hole on the base. Then I added one more 1/16 air hole over by the wick coil assembly.

I did 4 two finger wraps of 1.5mm silica. Then, I made a 3/4 coil of twisted 30 gauge kanthal A1. Not sure on the ohm rating, my multimeter is complete crap. I'm guessing a 3/4 of twisted 30 is right around .8ohms. I could be wrong, feel free to chime in if you know. With these tweaks this thing is just putting off tons of vapor! I only have 12mg nic juices right now but I think I'm going to need to step down to 6mg with this setup. A couple of drags in a row makes me a touch light headed.

So, how is everyone positioning the super long wicks on your RDA? Are you wrapping it around the posts, then putting the cap on... it are you feeding then threw the cap, then sliding the cap on. Their so long if I do it the 2nd way I mentioned the wicks poke out the top of the atty and I have to push the wicks down with a small screw driver to get my drip tip on.

With the original wicks, I would juice up the wick before threading them into the cap. This made them sticky and would get them to catch on the inner lip along the top of the cap. My custom coils don't have this issue since I use 3mm silica and fold them over at least once to make a loop at the end.

Gott'cha, still messing with the original silica. I wanna try a dual coil on it soon

I've been able to stuff as much silica as you guys have in the RDA...

i prefer the SS wicks and vape 6 drops at a time though... keeps me from mindlessly chain vaping.
I got my tank for that.

yeah, being SS inside and out, helps me stay worry free...

I have been eyeing the RDA, just cant come up with a reason to pull the trigger on one yet.

Check out the vapure facebook page for a video I posted with my dual coil. Should be a link to how I modified it too.

Sent from my pho...my portable communications, navigation, and media command console.
