I figured if there was any place in the forum that might have the answer, it would be here. A very short time ago, I purchased a Kazulinho Minotaur V2. Due to an extremely unfortunate incident, the magnetic switch is now fried. I have scoured the internet and found out two things. 1) I cannot find a live link for Kazulinho mods so have to assume they/he is out of business. 2) I cannot find anywhere that sells these types of magnetic switches to get a replacement. Does anyone know of anywhere that might have one? Here is a link that shows you this mod and hopefully makes it clear what I am talking about.

I am the least technical person you can imagine and the thought of even trying to make my own switch is way out of my comfort zone. Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Otherwise I have a beautiful wooden box to look at.

Absolutely gorgeous mods

The switch would be a breeze for a replacement by anyone with a little electronics experience --you. Hard part will be finding the right switch that fits as flush as OEM.

I was afraid someone would say something like that, LOL. Installing another switch is probably a piece of cake for most of you in this sub-forum. Believe me ... it will be my last resort. If it isn't as flush as the OEM, I'm okay with that. Just so long as I could get it operational again and looking half-... decent would be the goal. :)

That switch looks like it might be a match for one from these guys: V2-V2.5-V3 Single Battery Pipe Buttons - Pipe & e-Cig Supplies- Batteries, Atties, Stems, Chargers, etc.

You could measure the size of yours and email them and ask what are the dimensions of theirs and you might be pleasantly surprised. If not, you would have to take yours apart and maybe post some pics of the insides and we could see about fixing yours. I figure by 'fried' you mean the magnets got hot and no longer work.

THANK YOU! Checked out that website and the one on the far left in the picture looks very close to my fried one (and yes ... mine got so hot I couldn't hold it in my hand). I will definitely be contacting them to find out about size! If this fits, it would probably be in my best interests to buy several to have on hand.

Again, thank you SO MUCH for pointing me in this direction. Will keep my fingers crossed that it is the right fit.

Might I ask what caused the switch to get so hot???

Umm ... well ... I had it in my purse outside pocket and it fell on it's side and must have made contact with something that pushed on the switch ... constantly ... for some time ... Lesson learned? When carrying this mod (or any mod that uses such a magnetic switch) - pop the switch off the mod to prevent it from making ANY contact!

Just wanted to thank you big time, asdaq, for that recommendation. I finally got my switch in the mail today (partly taking some time to decide if it was really going to work and then waiting forever for our mail system to get it here after I ordered it!). It is just a hair too big to fit (about 3/1000 too big) but I have a dremel and can easily 'sand' the opening for that very small amount of room that I will need to make for it to pop down and fit properly. The important thing is that I will now be able to use my mod again! And will remember to pop the switch off when carrying it around from now on. :)

Again, thank you for your suggestion! You have saved my mod from becoming ... well ... I don't know what! LOL.

Glad to hear you got it Fisher. Is it a noticeably larger diameter than the original? I take it you need to sand the inside of the wooden hole top get it to fit and it just sits on the brass ring to make contact.

If you have the patience you can sand it by hand and get a nice clean finish without disturbing the brass. Find an object to use as a handle slightly smaller than the hole and wrap a piece of sandpaper around it and sand in the opposite direction than the paper is rolled. As you sand you can check that the ends of the paper stays straight and of course the fitment of the switch. Start with 120 grit and finish with 400. If it's really close, you could do the whole thing with 400.

If you don't want the old switch anymore I wouldn't mind a crack at rebuilding it. :)

I was going to use one of the dremel bits but, as you say, the chances of going to far or causing a ridge or some such other thing are a lot higher than just using sand paper. And you are right - the difference is extremely small. Won't take much at all for the switch to just drop in so think that's the way I will go. Drop me a pm with your mailing address and I'll be happy to send you the old one to play with. :)
