In the context of a reset switch, this is what is desired if your battery is hard wired, right?

It would be handy, but IMO not as important as somekind of fuse. The reset will just allow you clear out errors, such as the one talked about earlier when the screen doesn't come up.

Agreed... But I am not planning on unsoldering my battery if there may be a bug in there somewhere. I like your idea of a fuse and I was thinking something pull-able like a car fuse would accomplish both, but am waiting to see where this all shakes out....

Hell, I am still waiting for my enclosures to arrive so this is all good stuff here!

just saying that if you had an on/off, you maybe tempted to shut it off each night. And that would require you to adjust your settings for each power up.

Its a catch-22, no switch and risk this problem or switch and have to set it each time its turned on.

Well it's something you hopefully won't have to do often. I haven't had to do it in quite sometime. Only during the beta crash testing.
If you absolutely have it in your head that you need one, perhaps a switch inside the box or a recessed type switch that you need a pencil point to reset. But............ remember, your breaking the battery connection which carries high amperage. A tact won't do due to it's amperage rating. The DNA20 is rated at 6 amps but I never measured anything higher than 4.13 amps

Edit: 4.13 amps was on output. Input amperage is higher on boost circuits.

The weird thing is that I have had mine off and on batteries many times and haven't noticed it resetting the watt setting....not sure about the other settings. I will have to verify that I'm not talking out my ... :D

that's wierd because mine reset to 6 watts everytime, I have the beta models and it could be a change was made on the final versions

I'm not home right now but will be in a few and I will check it out. I disconnected it a couple hours ago so it will be good and cleared out.

Ok, I have checked it and remember/noticed again something someone else reported. The watt setting doesn't change back to the minimum but it does however increase by 0.1 each time power is disconnected and reconnected. Left vs right mode stays as it was set, and I didn't check stealth mode but imagine it stays also.

breaktru....seems like a beta board thing, but a small price to pay to test a great product. :D

In regards to having a main power on/off switch for nightly use or etc. IMO when the dna goes into power saving mode it uses hardly any power. I had one hooked up to a 1700mah lipo for 5 or 6 days with the only use to wake it up a couple of times a day to check battery level. At the end there was little to no drop on the screen battery monitor, but I forgot to take a reading with a meter before and after.

While on amazon I also picked up some silicone shielded fine strand 20gauge and 24gauge wire

Its a little pricy but the silicone holds up well to heat and between the fine strands and silicone shielding its a lot more flex friendly for routing and etc. I have used similar (larger) for rc stuff and it is great stuff. I picked up some 20gauge wire from a local auto parts store and it had like 6-8 strands of wire, it was stiff and a pita.

sounds like a great idea... let us know what you decide on.... we all want to vape safe..

This is how I'm going to proceed

I'm going to get some of both the fuse holder and universal clips (and maybe try out the instamorph) and use a low profile mini fuse. Below are some links (I couldn't find a 5amp fuse so 7.5amp for now)

Hey breaktru, what do you think would be the major problem with only running 22gauge wire? I would not be going over 12 watts, mostly just be doing 10.5- 11 max. I can't tell you how much of a pita it is to find a place locally to buy 20gauge. All I have on hand is 22 in red and black and some 18gauge in only red color. I can cut a few strands off to make them fit into the holes of the dna but not sure if it would be worth it. The data sheet does say a minimum of 22 so I am curious since you have done so much testing that I would check to see what your thoughts on it are.

*Edit - I guess scratch the above. Decided to not go this route and just order some off of Amazon.

Cool stuff!!

Could even use the small round ones and have it spring eject like a fighter pilot with his pants on fire. :D

yep, it was me. my mod has a removable 18490 and everytime i switch batteries out, it increases by 0.1 watts. totally small price to pay. nothing else changes in the settings.

Well like She said, bigger is better.
You can get by with 22ga keeping the wiring as short as possible and not expecting high output wattage.
If it was me and I had only two available gauges of 22 and 18, I would go w/ the 18ga. If need be, cut a strand or two and solder the cut ends on the thru-hole solder point.
