batteries, bottle and atty are all that need to be removed. as far as how often really depends on the individual. I have done it anywhere from once a week to several months. I should add that I wipe the outside off with a damp rag daily. Good luck!!!!!
No need to take the screw out that holds the derlin cover on. In fact i think its best to leave it in. Just flush some hot water through where the fire pin hits the battery. Use a light file to the tip of the firing pin..just a light scrap to remove any crud, oxidation that might have accumulated then put a tiny dab of noalox on it.
