I bought my new Davide Mini a few days ago to see if it was a viable tank to rotate with my Protank 2 and my Mini Pros. It worked fine with a free bottle of 70/30 juice for two days, then, I wanted to use one of my regular 50/50 blends in there, and nothing but burnt hits all day (and into a very frustrating vape night.) I was running it on my iTaste VV v3 at 8 watts using anything from a 2.5 Ohm head to a 1.6 Ohm head.

These are the things that I tried to make it work:

1) Removed a flavor wick.
2) Removed both flavor wicks.
3) Tried unpowered primer puffs.
4) Replaced the head.
5) Rebuilt the head using a micro coil and organic cotton balls.

Nothing but burnt, burnt gross hits. I really wanted this thing to work because I really like the looks of it. Also, the bloody thing won't fire on my MPV because the pin is too recessed.

Please help!!!

I've had nothing but love for mine. 3 weeks so far on one head with a semi-fruity flavor. I do have to dial it down. Maybe 8 watts is too much?
Next time you shop, maybe pick up an ego to 510 connector and/or not a 510 to 510. so handy to have around.

I just checked, 2.1Ω on an Ego twist at 4.2 volts. No idea how that transfers in watts.

Your running 8.4 watts at that voltage setting. Ohm's Law Calculator

What is your PG/VG ratio that seems to be working so well?

The Davide, like most all clearos and glassos is a pressure differential type tank. The wick functions not only to move liquid to the coil, but acts as a weak pressure seal between the negative pressure in the tank, and the positive pressure in the coil head and ports above and below it.

If the wick is too tightly fit, or too dense (I mention this because you've re-wicked with cotton) - juice may not flow adequately to the coil area to replenish, as juice is vaporized.

So... there it is in a nutshell. Assuming you have good negative air flow (vacuum) when you inhale (how tight is the draw?) - past the coil/wick to adequately generate a consistent state of negative pressure in the tank - then your problem may lie in the wick itself.
Again... too tight, or too dense. Adjust as you have materials available to you, to correct the (currently poor) capillary and retention capabilities of the wick.

I'm not familiar with the Davide, but as it uses common coil heads with a coil tail retention "pin" - that pin can be pulled out slightly to make contact with... the very well known to be - too deep iTaste 510 pin.

as far as the connection, innokin products have a very deep well on their 510 connections. I have even considered filing down mine a hair(the top part of the connection so products dont get bound up so quick). But a little pull on the center pin has been enough for a few weeks so far, so I have not gone that drastic....yet.

I filed the 510 collar about .015" on all my iTaste APVs... and if they have a beauty ring that is of similar height as the 510 collar, they get filed... and drilled too.

Thanks for the advice! I think I will try rebuilding another coil with just a fluff of cotton and we'll see if that works better. My draw is fairly light so, maybe I just need to use even less wicking material than I originally thought. There is this "holed plate" too, that covers up the bottom section of the tank when you remove the base and atomizer head. I think it is impeding a good vacuum in the tank. I think that Anyvape did this to prevent flooding, but with thicker juices, it just seems to prevent any wicking at all. I did pull the pin on the atomizer head as well, but it just gets pushed in again if I use the tank on other devices. Ugh.

You'll know if you've gone to far in the opposite direction Ruby. You'll get gurgling, wet draws and perhaps even leakage. The wick "seal" can be a fine line between too much and too little, and the Chinese don't always get it perfect, so you have to find the balance that they sometimes can't. ;-)

I'll be posting a more elaborate article on pressure differentials and wick seals in the general forums in a few minutes... stop by and have a read when you get a chance.

Good luck sorting it out... I'm sure you'll find that magic "balance" eventually.

Sorry I missed this last bit. As Jayvapes commented on, and I've done with every iTaste APV I own - filing the 510 collar to reduce the pin depth is an option.
I've done a few other things with the MVP as well, here - posts 14, 20, 29 and 31.
