A few weeks ago, I stopped at a local convenience store, and a young couple in line ahead of me were trying to decide on a cigalike kit from the numerous displays behind the counter ...

I didn't pay attention to which one they purchased, but in the parking lot I watched from my car with curiosity as they opened and tried it ... :?:

About a minute later the whole kit was tossed out the window of their car and they drove away. Probably lighting up a smoke to calm themselves ...

Now I wish I had spoken to them ... :(

Color me confused. Why does someone who started the tootle puffer gear is overlooked need or want an RX200?

Because I'm not a full time TP :). I'm the everything vaper.

My Griffin is running 110W.

However, I started the thread to help that segment choose rebuildables that suited them, and to learn to build. Since I've owned the attys I began the thread with, I can be helpful with them.

Some of the Tpers do like the long batt life on the rx as well though :). Several have now bought them, along with istick 100Ws, etc.

That's really what sold me on 30-50 watt mods; I figured if someone could vape profitably at those wattages on those mods, then surely they'd be all day mods for those vaping at 9w. I was right! :D

And that's a good thread, because a lot of TP'ers seem to have the idea that building your own coils means you chase clouds or at least fog up your house, and it just ain't so. Even tootlers can profit from the long life of coils your make yourself, and can customize them to provide best flavor in the constraints of high ohms and low watts.

Yeah, makes me think their PMTAs are ready to go.

Just a Hypothetical Question:

If you were in a Position of Power in a BT company, wouldn't you have some PMTA's ready to go?

;)

will they need to submit PMTAs? I would think these particular products would qualify for products (types) before 2007 in the marketplace so would not need it... ?

Yes, many of them had no idea just how many RDAs and RTAs there are for tootle puffers. There are a ton, and new ones do still come out with frequency. And it would be good for them to get away from their dependence on factory coils if the regs go through. So I felt the thread was needed.

Same with help choosing mods that use external batteries, and mech mods.

And Rossum, we talk about squonking, too :)

I don't think there is going to be Any Products that will not have to go the PMTA route.

For a Product to go down the Substantial Equivalence route, it would have to do this...

Substantial Equivalence Application (Section 905j report) for products substantially equivalent to an existing tobacco product,
  • It requires a Substantial Equivalence Report:
    • demonstrating that the product is identical to the product marketed before February 15, 2007 or,
    • demonstrating an equivalent product has already been approved by the FDA (“predicated product”)
  • Actions the manufacturer has taken to comply with any applicable standards (none are applicable to vaping products at present).
USA: FDA’s Deeming Rule explained by an expert

BTW - If anyone has not seen Patricia Kovacevic's FDA Regulations webinar, I Highly Recommend it.

well I guess if anyone doubts cigarette sales are on the decline and ecigarette use is on the uptake this news should settle it.
The biggest conundrum for me is open versus closed systems in the final regulations.
On one hand closed system allow for easy and strict controls but on the other hand it will take away a potentially large taxable gap filler for states who are feeling the serious pinch of declining cigarette sales to be able to tax eliquid in a like manner, as some have already begun to do.

No reason why Close System Cartridges can't be Heavily Taxed.

But I understand what you are saying.

I wish I could find another RDA I like as well as the Achilles. I keep thinking about the Mini-Drip, but I'm just not sure it would be a tight enough draw for me. Apparently I've RDA'ed myself completely away from being able to enjoy my Kayfuns anymore. I just can't abide all the racket they make, after the silent Achilles, or the fact that all I can taste from them anymore is cotton. It's very frustrating.

Actually, you are an excellent candidate for a squonker and non afc Cyclone :). Not all squonkers are expensive. And Cyclones show up in the classys pretty often. I bet you would love it.

If you were in my area, I would let you try it.

That's why I think systems with pre-filled cartos/cartridges will not be the norm. In AR here where they passed the laws about online eliquid sales, that INCLUDES any device that has eliquid "in" it. Yet, hardware, all hardware of every kind, is totally okay to order online (as long as it doesn't have eliquid in it or on it). As a matter of fact, I asked the attorney for the ATC to explain to a few online companies who wouldn't sell me hardware, to EXPLAIN the law to them. And, he did. :)

They want to have bottles of eliquid with lot numbers on the shelves, inventories, so it can be taxed in 2 years from now. That is the plan. So they want you to have hardware to USE it in. That is how I got to thinking that the regs will see hardware as very separate. Because our Governor is "hooked up", homeland security and all that, he knows what he's doing when it comes to making tax $$ off vaping. I have a feeling he knows the 411 with regard to what's coming.

Oh, I realize the regs have basically been written for them to fit right in. But, it sounds like they're expecting an increase in sales. Maybe they expect us to switch to theirs? Lol!

They may have thought such case would be. I think they are finding out they're grasping at a large could be only to come up fistfuls of won't be happening.
