i did this primarily for when im at home. because i drip, the device needs to remain in a somewhat upright position, and the GLV is not very good at standing upright. an ant could knock it over. (and i dont particularly like the look of the stands). also, i dont like to keep it in my pocket because im afraid small pieces of lint will find its way into my button (and drip tip). this way, its around my neck for easy, frequent access...my wife can make fun of me all she wants
This obviously isn't rocket science, and I'm sure many have done it before, and in many different ways...but I figured I would share and explain what i used. All materials are very cheap ($8appx, but keep in mind that these things come in packs...much more than you actually need...in reality the entire setup only requires less than $1 worth of material)
So first, I knew that I didn't want to deal with anything that would rub up against, and scratch, my beautiful GLV. that means no keychains, carabiners, hooks, or any other metalish object of the sort. But I still needed material strong enough to support the weight of the PV.
Its very simple. I went to the plumbing section of the hardware store to where they have rubber O-rings. 2 sizes are required, one that fits snugly around the body of the GLV, and one very small one to attach your lanyard, or something else to. Then the only other thing you need is a form of string/yarn/wire/chord that is strong enough to support the weight, yet loose enough to tie and hold small knots. In my case, I decided to use hemp string.
then, as you can see by the picture, you connect the two O-rings with your string. And that's pretty much it!!! nice and cheap! i know there is metal on the actual lanyard, but its obviously nowhere near my GLV when hanging around my neck.
