Making a mechanical switch lockable?

OK, I am new to modding. New to vaping really, but I have made a Puck ecig, and am currently working on a flashlight mod. I have started a simple spring/plunger bottom switch but was wondering if anyone here could help me figure out a good way to make a locking mechanical switch?

A plunger with locking ring that limits the plunger depth is the most common.

Thanks, that looks like what I need. Has anyone made one from hardware store parts that they would like to share?
