I highly suggest you NOT make your own devices.
At least not until you get masters degrees in electrical engineering, metalurgy, electrical conductivity and scores more. As well as the safe operation of an aluminum mill.
You can't make a safe RDA with a Dremel.
One wrong move and BOOM...you can pick your face up 3 blocks away.
Just saying, be safe, friend.
Don't dip a naked toe into toxic waste.

Know why we call them mods?
Short for "modified flashlight".
The first mods were homemade.
This is primitive electronics.
A basic knowledge of tools and metal working, and a bit of basic electrical knowledge, and the design becomes quite obvious and simple.
You can make a mod and RDA from Home Depot parts, a harbor freight drill press and some basic hand tools.
It just takes a little knowledge and some common sense.

It's as simple as drilling a few holes and installing a grommet and some small bolts.
I'm sure It could be done.
I have a machinist background. Only have a wood shop now, tho.
Was just trying to picture fabricating a hunk of metal into a RDA, with only a drill press.
I wonder if the FDA is considering what the consequences of inexperienced mod builders, could be.
Myself, I'll just stock up on RDAs and keep my mechs rolling along.

Home modders built this entire industry.
Every mod you use is a "consequence" of home modding.
I know where you are going with that statement, and it's off base.
The accidents happen when idiots misuse existing gear.
Those tools are too lazy to learn about the existing gear they use. Modding is way too much work for them.
Back to modding:
You don't need to fabricate anything.
You simply "modify" existing materials.
That's why we call them mods.

Everthing else ... a bit of ingenuity and a trip or two to the local hardware store and supermarket and all the banning and regulating will just e-vapor-ate
Cuz if you pare away all the fancy geegawery, it's dead simple:
A power source provides energy to a heat source which evaporates a liquid...
Pour liquid on a hot plate and the result will be the same - vapor.
Not very convenient for being out and about unless you got a mile-long extension cord, but the principle is the same. Mods and atty's just made it portable.

Your doomsday scenario didn't happen.
They started this entire scene, without a single incident hitting the news.
No doubt the pioneers knew what they were doing.
You have more faith, than I, that the current (uninformed) generation of vapers know what attys should not be put on a mech.
Whatever the result, it is far from a "doomsday scenario"...

1. No, they didn't know what they were doing beyond basic primitive electronics. Trial and error. (remember blue foam?)
It's flashlight tech.
It's not that hard. 8th grade science.
2. They aren't "uninformed", the info is a click away.
The people that use the wrong gear are lazy.
Too lazy to educate themselves, and far to lazy to be bothered with making a mod from scratch.
Hell, they are too lazy to learn to operate the tools needed to make one.
In fact, you have more faith in them than I do.
