I store my unflavored juice and nic base in glass jars. If exposure to air is a concern, would adding marbles to the jars as I remove the juice or base for mixing serve any positive purpose? I am thinking of the oval glass florists' marbles-- I think they are less expensive, or would any toxins leach out?

I don't see how marbles would create an airtight seal.
Canning jars with lids screwed down tight will definitely do the job, and if still worried, you can store them upside-down.

The marbles would displace the air, reducing the available amounts of H20 and O2. Remember that pg/vg absorb water, and nic oxidizes. In this climate, that is very important.

Further discussion?

All this brewing talk got me to thinking about box wine.

It is in a bladder that collapses as the wine is drawn out.... <pondering>

Hmmm.. I have a FoodSaver attachment I use to vacuum down lids when storing dehydrated foods.
You couldn't put an O2 absorber in a jar of juice, but it might help.

a skin of plastic wrap floating on the surface might serve almost as well. Or, in the case of infrequently used nic base, pouring some melted paraffin could also work, and be more impervious.

My brother is into brewing. I just sent him an e-mail with the links :)oops:). He could benefit from coming into contact with this fine bunch of people, anyway. :)

There's no real point in adding glass marbles to the jar as the surface area of the liquid will be the same, yes there will be less oxygen in the vessel to aid oxidation of the nic but it is negligible at best. It would be better to not buy more nic base than you will use in a year (the general lifex of nic before it starts to degrade in quality, although it is still usable after this time) and keep in in a cool dark place.
