HB 26, a bill that would prohibit the use of vapor products in all indoor spaces open to the public, will be heard in the Maryland House Economic Matters Committee on Wednesday, February 11th at 1:00 PM.In addition to prohibiting use in tens of thousands of Maryland workplaces, as it is currently written, this bill will not provide an exemption for vapor shops.

Last year, a practically identical bill was introduced by the same sponsor. Thanks to a strong showing by vapers, the bill was defeated in committee. However, 2015 is a new year and new legislators have been elected, so we need vapers to act now and help us defeat HB 26.

Please take action now to oppose this bill and make plans to attend the hearing on the 11th.(see the link for address details)

(Update - 03.22.15)

HB 26 has been given an unfavorable report out of committee by a vote of 16 - 6. Although we have “expired” our email campaign for this bill and expect to conclude this call to action favorably, we will continue to monitor this bill until the Maryland Legislative session has come to a close in mid-April.

Please consider contacting the members of the House Economic Matters Committee who voted to issue an unfavorable report to express your thanks. You can view the detailed vote count here.

Any future updates will be posted here:

Thank you,
