How super is this! Good to see familiar "faces" and new ones, too! Thanks for starting this, Bluesman.
I sure do relate to the experiences I'm seeing. Started smoking in my late teens; was hooked before was I had my 20th birthday. I'm now 65 and it was "cool" back in the day to smoke. You could smoke anywhere back then, even in a hospital room. I remember having a cig with my doctor after the birth of my daughter, for pete's sake.
Tried to quit ... even managed to stay off analogs for over a year once back in my 30s. Quit for about 9 or 10 months a couple of years ago. Tried numerous other times ... all the different stuff. Wellbutrin made me wild and hyper. Hate that stuff. Gum yuck. Patches meh. Even tried the nicotrol inhalers, which were a little better, but still left a lot to be desired.
Saw some stuff online a couple of years ago about ecigs (this was when I last quit), but somehow, I missed ECF's forum and all the excellent info on here. Anyway, I didn't try them ... wish now I had! Then, an online bud who vapes mentioned ecigs to my daughter and asked if she smoked. She told him, no, but that her mom does. So, I popped onto "vent" and started talking to him and his wife about it. Within the week, I had ordered a couple of 808 bats, some cartos, PTs, and chargers.
Took me a bit to figure out that 24mg were just too darned strong. Now I'm vaping at 12s and some 18s and it works much better!
I'm going to most likely move up in equipment soon. I like my PTs because I don't have to worry about the batt dying, but I vape more than I feel I should with 'em. It's too easy to sit here at the computer and vape vape vape.
I've cut down on the analogs tremendously since I started vaping, but haven't given them up totally yet. Last time I quit, I wound up with the worst outbreak of mouth ulcers imaginable and they just kept coming for months and months. So, this time, I'm trying to inch up on ditching the analogs. Maybe it would be different just because I'm switching to a different type of nicotine delivery and not giving up the stinkies cold-turkey, I don't know. But, I think easing over will be safer, as far as the risk of the ulcers returning.
Again ... am really glad to be here! Ya'll vape on!
