Please accept my apology.

Elbert,

DG was 'speaking to me. You have no need to apologize!

This is why I don't like when only typed words can be read.
too easy to misunderstand.
No body language no tone of voice just words we can read in different manners with different outcomes.

Just like the different tastes for vaping flavs, folk read/comprehend words/phrases/sentences differently.

Ergo, my luv for emoticons/smilies/graphics. It helps to get my thoughts across without offending someone who might misread my intent.

dg, how in da world did I do that?!? I was showing the difference twix two souls with shared beliefs and how they respond, or do not respond. You 'read' something that I did not write!

One soul, as an informal educator, responds to cultural insensitivity or ignorance by teaching.

One soul suffers such incidents silently and stoically while building self-control.

Which soul is to be judged right or wrong by another? Ergo, my "no intention to be confrontational nor judgmental" statement. Maybe you didn't read or even believe that statement while you quoted it.

I don't BS folk, for I have no need to. When composing serious posts, I'm quite capable of saying what I mean and want others to comprehend. If I was so inclined, I could accuse you of calling me a liar, at worst; or insincere, at best. See how that works...

I publicly apologize if you misread my observations, for it's obvious I didn't live up to my own expectation. Mea culpa!

ETA: PM sent... as you previously requested.

LOve dat post, Iffy.

It is VERY EASY to misunderstand things that we type.
There's no eye contact.
Just my .02

To one and all.
If I point out something I read that I know some Natives would be upset about, I try to simple point it out so if the info is needed sometime you will have it.

Not even trying to call anyone out.
Part of my job this time round is to help bridge gaps between dominate society and red. Help dominate society better understand Red.
I can go between red and white, but some of those Natives are really stuborn.

1 time in my life I was discriminated against by a co-worked, when my last name was Kaplan.
I can't count the number of time a Full Blood has discriminated against me because I have blonde hair, blue eyes and freckles

Took 3 months of going to a small Pow Wow in Long Beach before anyone even looked at me.
I know the culture so it was not unexpected, but was hoping only a few weeks. :)

In response to both posts, I've also responded privately to both Iffy and Elbertdee. When you're bipolar, sometimes you read things the wrong way and take them the wrong way and respond the wrong way. I did all 3.

I'm sorry for overreacting, I just felt like I was being singled out as being "reactionary" vs "informational." That's on me and I'm sorry that it happened.

I try hard to not let my feelings override my functionality and there are days where I just completely flip out and I feel the best way to deal with it is to step out. It's hard to explain to people who don't suffer from bipolar disorder, how it can control your life and how you view things.

I'm here, I'm not going anywhere, I wasn't intending to go away forever - just to step out for a bit - which is why I said I'd be in the middle aged thread for a little while.

I also mentioned to Elbert that if I don't respond to posts between the start of Shabbos at about 8:30 tonight, until 9:30 tomorrow night, it's simply because I'm being observant of the Sabbath - it's not because I'm angry or upset with anyone. I did it last week as well, but I'm more concerned about people thinking I'm blowing them off tonight/tomorrow because of the misunderstanding.

There are many similarities with Jewish holidays/celebrations/ritual and Eastern Woodlands Natives.

New years, cleansing away the year 10 days after the new year.
both lunar based cultures.

There are quite a few similar similarities and I find them fascinating, even down to things like separation from men during a woman's cycle in both cultures, and until the mikveh in Judaism. The lunar similarities intrigue me as well :)

Although my percentage of Native American blood is too far from being considered pure enough - I'm also quite blonde, freckled and green-eyed - I'm sure I'd have similar issues being accepted should I ever find out what nation my grandmother was related to.

No worries, Elbert. What you do is good and right. I just want peace and love for all of us.

I moderate a forum on Facebook, and two guys got into it. You know what I said? It made everybody laugh.

"Boys, don't make me come in there......!"

Let's just DANCE

Colin just said I look like the blonde chick running all around (we have the same hair, lol).

I'm terribly sorry for all the confusion, hurt feelings and anything else I may have caused. Please understand that the last thing I want to do is upset anyone, so when I misconstrue the way something is stated, I feel really bad and I don't think there are enough ways to apologize.

Shabbat Shalom, y'all!

Mom used to light the candles every Friday night. We'd have a lovely extended family dinner. Good memories. Dunno why, my sisters and I can't speak Yiddish, and the only time we do holidays is when I cook and invite everyone over for Passover or miscellaneous excuses for me to cook Jew food.

Mom made kugel a little differently. It was not sweet, luchen kugel. It was savory. And so delicious, my kids and nieces just scarf it up.

Boil 1 pound of large flat noodles. Not the curly kind. They have to be flat.
Drain and add 4 eggs, 1/4 cup vegetable, a teaspoon of salt. All measured by guess.
As my mom said, "mooshel it around"
Before you do that, turn the oven on to 400 degrees. Put 1/4 cup of vegetable oil on the bottom of a 9 x 9 metal pan. Put the oiled pan in the hot oven for a few minutes, until the oil spreads out and is hot. Add the noodle mixture, and bake 30-45 minutes until brown and crispy on top and soft in the middle.

Um, YUM! Love the "mooshel it around" part. My friend Tara (who I went to temple/shul with as a child), her mother could COOK and man did we look forward to the Break-fast after the fall Holy Days. It was like being surrounded by yum, lol! The one thing I really need to learn to make is Challah as it's nowhere to be found down here in redneckville. Granted, there is one other Jewish person/family here - we just don't know who they are! I discovered them on a website for people who at least observe the Friday evening festivities with the candle lighting, called Fridaylights.org. When I zoomed in on the map (they show where all the people registered on the site live - pretty cool) I found someone else here in town! I mentioned to ElbertDee in a message that it finally made sense why the kosher/Jewish food section was ravaged (we have 4 whole shelves, that's it) around the Holy Days and Passover, lol! I'm pretty sure the same bottles of gefilte fish have been there since I arrived in 2008 - the Shabbos candles haven't changed, lol! We actually blew dust off the box we got!

We don't always observe all the rules of Shabbat - I'd burn the house down if we left the stove on, and I can't make anything in the slow cooker that won't die after a few hours so we cook and do other things (like use the tv, get online, etc) - but we do try to be observant at least a couple times a month. I find it interesting how alien it is to people who don't do it - my mom is so sweet - she'll call every Friday night before we turn the phones off (we do that at least, every week) and wish us a good Shabbos and then say, "talk to you on Sunday!" Took a little while to explain it all to her, but she remembered some things her dad had told her. Her father was Jewish but not her mother, apparently although he was raised orthodox, he gave it up for my grandmother and became a Presbyterian the same day my mother (oldest child) took her first communion. Mostly when people ask, I just say - we do it on Saturday not Sunday :)

@daisygirl - my heart goes out to your suffering with bipolar. I am somewhat familiar with the disorder and know how difficult it can be to live with. I hope you are getting help and if you ever need to vent or need a shoulder don't hesitate to contact me.

Since we are all sharing out heritage I will tell you I am a mutt! Blue eyed blonde, Jewish, Catholic, don't practice either but have started some spiritual readings and am very much enjoying learning Buddhism/Zen. Love and identify with this quote from Gandhi: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” That basically sums up why I have turned away from organized religion.

I am Russian, Swedish (I got the blonde hair), Native American (my sister got the gorgeous blue hued black hair), English, French, German, Scottish and American. Probably a few more mixed in there also. I'm also a classic dual personality Gemini so I never know who I'm going to wake up to be that day. Out of 5 kids I don't look like anyone. So it's either my completely mixed up heritage or I really am the milkman's child as my siblings have always told me!

I do love matzo ball soup, chopped liver with horseradish and onions on rye, challah, kugel, oh and those yummy cookies/ turnover with poppy seed paste (Rugelach?), knish, the best bagels, etc. Then again, don't get me started on Mexican and Italian cuisine! Oh and don't forget French! Oh I'm getting so hungry all of a sudden.

@Sandy - I would love your brisket recipe.
