The meds were to help with acute chronic anxiety. Here's what popped my circuit breakers.

Six weeks after I walked my daughter across the beach on Coronado Island in the San Diego Bay to marry her night in shining armor, a Naval Pilot, complete with violins, doves, and an archway of gleaming swords held high by Navy, Marine, and Seal warriors I was walking arm and arm with her behind a caisson in Arlington to bury her husband. He and his crew were killed at sea during a pre-deployment exercise when there was a freak but catastrophic mechanic failure of his helicopter.

We're a number of years down the the road from that tragic day but it's a lifetime journey, not something you 'get over' or 'get past'. It's a day to day learning how to live life again. My daughter was an absolute basket case for weeks and not much better than that the first year. Those first weeks, she needed medication almost immediately each morning when she woke. She's doing remarkably better now but still has days that are awful. Adam will always be with us and he and his crew will never be forgotten. She lives with his inspiration and the motto of his squadron, Wildcards Never Quit.

If you know of any military families that have lost a son, daughter, husband, or wife have them contact a wonderful support group T.A.P.S. Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is Here For You! They are an extremely helpful and supportive organization to help people on the journey after loosing a loved one.

Sandy, this is likely more than you asked for, but I feel comfortable with this group and just writing it helps me feel better. Thanks folks for listening.

Mike. A tragedy, to say the least. My thoughts and strength to you and your family, especially your daughter.

Good morning peeps. Just a drive by shout out to all of you. I hope you have a beautiful day.

Mookie, you'd like my dog. I love dog kisses. Sheeba does not lick. I clicker train my pets. They hear a click, they get a treat, that's how it works, they associate the click with a treat. I had to clicker train her to kiss. I say "give me a kiss". When she begrudgingly licks me, I click and give her a dog treat ;)

Did I show this to you guys?

When I got home, the cat adopted that ring. Now he sleeps inside of it!

Oh I really wanted to clicker train the cats to pull a wagon, but my daughter wouldn't let me. They are her cats.

Love this, Sandy! Any type of positive-reinforcement training is good; but clicker-training is the best thing since sliced bread. I've found it's not only a fast and reliable way to train, but it does great things for animal self-confidence. Trainer has fun, trainee has fun ... it's a win-win every time.

What fresh hell is this?:

Starting May 16, 2012, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will prohibit all international air shipments of lithium batteries and products containing lithium batteries, including primary lithium metal or lithium alloy (nonrechargeable) cells and batteries or secondary lithium-ion cells and batteries (rechargeable). Shipments with lithium batteries also will be prohibited to and from APO, FPO, and DPO locations. These restrictions do not apply to shipments within the United States and its territories.

DMM Revision: Mailings of Lithium Batteries

Items that often use lithium power include, but are not limited to: Kindle devices, watches, tablets, video cameras, cameras, GPS devices, MP3 players, smartphones, laptops, portable DVD players, and power drills.

Sex and Drugs and Rock-n-Roll . . . That was a FUN way to get my grandkids in the mood to move this morning!

Ahhhhh-Ibuprofen. . . . . That of course added Nexium to my daily diet. Did that for about a year but switched to aloe vera tablets 6 months ago and it's working like a charm!

Thank you for that information - aloe vera tablets. Don't need them yet. But, ibuprofen is the one otc med that I take regularly - very regularly. It cures about everything!

Me too. Diabetic and thyroid cancer. Did the doctor's cause your thyroid cancer too? They did mine! Don't you love how doctor's give drugs and treatments that cause more damage than they fix?

If you can get some real wild yam it does help with pre grandma body chemistry.

And where do you find REAL wild yam?

I always refused to take drugs for my mood problems. I really, really, really don't like drugs! But, once I finished going through menopause, I got a great surprise: the serious mood problems just went away! The problems changed during menopause, but were still there (just a little different).

So, I guess it was largely chemical / hormonal after all. But, if I had let a doctor prescribe something, I doubt it would have been the right thing anyway. It would not likely have been hormones - not all those years before menopause anyway. I have VERY little trust in the competence of doctors - from more than one bad experience with them.

I still have the underlying issues that I've always had. But, now I actually believe life might just be worth living. Thank you menopause!!!

My Sister: "We used to talk about guys, now we talk about procedures and medication".

My sister got thyroid cancer from the stupid idea of using xray machines at kids'shoe stores to check fit.

I was four years old when I came down with goiter and a thyroid that was overactive enough to put me in the hospital for two weeks.

Hmmmm, could it have been due to those xray machines?! Never thought of that before.

Time to start talkin' about guys again, Sandy. Please use me in any conversation you wish.

Bluesman It was slow yesterday.

It happens, Elbert. We don't move as fast as we used to. And sometimes we don't arrive at all.
