I try and make the same 'thickness' juice with various PG/VG ratios and percentages of flavor.
Another variable I've found is the amount of water that my VG has absorbed (it does that :)).

Once you've found the 'just right' thickness, how can you get it when you change ingredients?

The Dr. Kavorky DIY thickness tester :)
10ml syringes with ink jet refill blunt 18 ga 4 inch needles (for laminar flow) and a stop watch.
My preferred thickness seems to be right at 90seconds/ml.

I do it a little differently (doesn't everyone :))
My PG/VG ratios range from 50/50 to 30/70.
My favor is usually a pair of 5% flavors, maybe up to 12% total flavor.
The PG and Flavor don't require thinning, only the VG, so a percentage of the VG seems logical, not a % of the total.

The Dr.Kavorky seems to indicate DW of 6% to 8% of the VG gives about the same thickness as the commercial standard (DeKang PG juice :)) for the ratios I use.

With respect to the total volume, that's a different percentage of DW for 50/50 than 30/70.
Probably different than what everyone else uses, but at least I can check it and repeat it.

Am I mistaken or did you say your flavor % was up to 30%+ ?

In my DIY mixes I use concentrate, but if I go 2% too much either way the flavor is either barely there (low end) or incredibly muted (high end).

Are you possibly using too much flavoring in your mixes? Could that be causing your muted tastes in the Vivi?

Ok, you got me here, barely there or muted would seem to me to be the same thing? I am having this issue as well, and I know it is in my mixing, premixed purchased juice works fine in any equipment I use. Thought perhaps the flavorings I was using weren't as intense as those suppliers are using. So of course upping the % of flavorings just made sense. Now you are telling me that might be my problem?

Barely there means I can still taste it, but it tastes like flavored water.

Muted is more like the flavor is so intense that you can't taste it at all. You can tell it's there, but you can't tell what flavor it is.

I hope that makes sense, sounds right in my head lol :D Just something to think about. It's happened to me a few times. I end up having to add more base to get the flavoring down to where I can taste it again. Seems counter intuitive but it may be what's going on.

Yep, that could be it. It is a well documented weirdo event in mixing.

<See that "3" in blue type under my avatar...good...click it...then go to the Flavoring Levels blog.

This thing might be easier than you think!
