She's so lucky to have you. I don't blame her, either, poor thing. My niece is still all messed up from how her mother handled her coming out. It's been 6 years and even though my sister in law actually realized a very long time ago that she was wrong in how she handled things, the damage was done and it runs very deep. It's heartbreaking.
I remember when my high school friend asked me to be with him when he came out to his mom the summer after graduation. She freaked. She wanted to send him to a shrink to "fix" him. I asked her if she would consider going to a shrink to "fix" her own sexual orientation. She said, "Well no, it can't be done. I'm straight!" I looked at her for a minute and actually saw her get it, lol. I just don't get why it's so hard for people to understand that it doesn't matter who we love. We are all the same.
