It wasn't too bad. It easily wiped off and the pin was nice and shiny. I wonder if it might have been some residual oil from the manufacturing process? I normally don't even bother washing everything clean before I start using it unless it was visibly yucky.
I have never tried that, but I will have to check into that. Its always nice having a few different options.

Neem oil is good too. Both are also used to repel ticks as well. I spray Nala with a neem oil mixture to boost her tick proofing when I know we're gonna be in a questionable area.

It prevents bugs from reproducing. It works by smothering the eggs. It also gets on the bugs clogs up their breathing. We used neem on our plants years ago. But now we maintain temps and humidity, so no bug issues.
I can think of a few people I'd like to use it on!
