This has been one of those days. I gave in and had more analogs than I was allowed. My banner was created with the thought that I might smoke maybe this many this day. Ok I've done better than my banner says I have. I allowed for this when I made it. (help from ECF with that one cause I wasn't gonna even put it up again. My analog comsuption is so far down from what I expected that I'm really proud of myself. After a very wonderful night last night the hens got up.(My sweet pea and her mom) I couldn't take it anymore. I tried one. Really nasty. The more they kept going I'd try another. (Starting to get sick at this time.). I've filled up a couple of clearos.
Sitting here I realize that this is the BEST SUPPORT GROUP A PERSON COULD EVER HAVE. Thank you once again ECF. I will do this one way or the other. I keep trying to get "mom" I use that term loosley. to try it and all she does is b%&#h. If I find her smoking I can gripe more than either of them. All I get is "ok" and she continues. I can't say anything because I do have an analog during the day. I cleaned all the air filters in the house today and was very pleased that they have never looked like that before. I'm not beating myself up. I didn't fail> I just had a trip or stumble. I got my vmax loaded with ry4 and am happy to be here with people that really and truley understand. THANK YOU ALL AND HAPPY vaping. i need more toys.

Slipping at 8 days in is nothing, even if you really slipped. At day 8, I was smoking 5-6 cigs a day (down from 55) (I have the numbers right here as I recorded it to make sure I counted what I smoked).

Now, at day 23, I'm down to 1 per day and I'm thinking I don't really need that (I actually had a quarter this morning and still have the rest of it just in case, but probably won't bother with it).

Everybody adjusts differently! Some drop the cigs and that's it. Some, like me, trickle down over time. Some never completely quit the cigs but vape for the most part. It's all healthier than the smoking habit we had.

Don't worry about it. An ecig will take away the tobacco over time. I found it helpful to smoke and vape at the same time. Seriously, I would light one up after I was down to 6 or so a day and occasionally switch between the two and compare. The ecig always won out in taste. Eventually, when I wanted a cigarette, I'd pick up my ecig and vape a little heavier for a bit. The urge would go away.

One day, I decided I was done smoking. I vaped all day and didn't smoke. I waited for the withdrawal symptoms and there were none. That's when I discovered that the addiction I had left was entirely mental. From that point on, I never smoked another cigarette and didn't care for one when my wife smoked around me. I'm hoping that she will quit, but not pushing. It will happen for her, too.

Yea I agree most of the time that works but last night I vaped so heavy that I had a nic hangover this morning. Thinking about going to a really low nic content. Just to have something to do. I was a 2-3 pad smoker and usually vape between 18 to 24mg. If I do it like I did last night it's just to much for my little system to hold.

Every new breath you take is the rebirth of who you are.

There's this thing our society has about "finality" and the lie that says"well, now you got to start all over again..blah blah blah". And its crap. I have slipped into that tendency, we probably all have at least once. So it's good that you realize it wasn't any sort of failure.

Do you ever vape using menthol? People have said its something they crave when they go off the analogs, even if they didn't smoke menthol.

I stumbled onto some research about the biochemistry of menthol and it indicates, to me...well here(from an excerpt on wiki):

"it is similar to capsaicin, the chemical responsible for the spiciness of hot peppers (which stimulates heat sensors, also without causing an actual change in temperature).

Menthol's analgesic properties are mediated through a selective activation of κ-opioid receptors.[2] Menthol also blocks voltage-sensitive sodium channels, reducing neural activity that may stimulate muscles.[3] Menthol also enhances the efficacy of ibuprofen in topical applications via vasodilation, which reduces skin barrier function."

So we are dealing with something that can add that extra smoothing we need on those rough edges.

Stay with it man! You're strong enough :thumb:

Funny you should mention menthol. I found a local brick and mortar here in town and they sell a NPort. I used to analog both. Marlboro 72 gold and also Marlboro 72 blues. The NPort I got stops all the craving for the menthol I use to have.

Just count the number of cigarettes that you didn't smoke. I would consider you a success! Back on the wagon with ya.

Huffelpuff: I never fail or give in . It just takes me a bit to get caught up. That's why I made the adjustment on my banner. I didn't realize till today how many I ain't lit up. Happy dance.

We put to much pressure on ourselves to stay away from cigs COMPLETELY when we start vaping & I think that's a big mistake. If you CAN eliminate cigs completely right off the bat, more power to you.. I've been vaping for over a year, I have tons of batteries, accessories, juices, cases, the works, I love it, but I still have a cig from time to time. Usually in the mornings driving to work and even then I ask myself, "wow why did I just smoke that? I didn't even get anything out of it".. I immediately pick up my PV & start vaping right after..

I know smoking cigs is not something to be encouraged, but there's to many newcomers here who hear people saying, "oh I stopped analogs 2nd day of vaping, haven't had one in years, easy!" - But that's wishful thinking.. It isn't that easy for most of us. As long as you aren't buying cigs every day, and you've lowered your analog intake enough to feel the benefits of not being a regular smoker, then I think you're doing just fine. ;)

I concur with DaveP and others who have said you're being too hard on yourself. All in good time, my pretty, all in good time (to quote the wicked witch if the west). Don't beat yourself up. If you work vaping into your routine and if your equipment is performing well, you'll find yourself preferring to vape eventually. Don't bale. You'll be glad you stayed with it.

Six weeks smoke free with no stress of craving a stinker. Just decided 2 weeks into vaping that I could do without and decided to stop smoking. That, after 38 years, much of which I wish I could quit. Vaping made it painless.

Hang in there.

I think it took me about a month to get off of them completely. 2 weeks at 1/2 a pack, around 1 week at around 5 a day, and about a week at 1 or 2 a day. Then one day I realized i wouldn't be smoking at all if they weren't always with me. Tossed the pack I had left and din't look back. Now if they were always around me it would've been much harder. That first week smoke free was real rough. WTA probably would've helped a lot. I still want a cig a couple times a day, but they aren't strong cravings any more. Keep up the good work and don't stress. It's only a couple of cigs.

tnt56,
It's OK, just remember how nasty cigs taste and smell. Vaping gets yer nic and tastes great!
Good work on gittin' away from burning leaves!
Most of my friends have tried vaping only to return to cigs, I used to give them a hard time, but they know the score...
None of the bastiges will donate their EGOs to me.

I reckon that it's an individual choice. For me, in Dec 2010, the wife talked me into getting an ecig rig. After some time here at ECF,
I decided on an EGO kit. Haven't looked back since. I now have a pile of LTs, BoxMods, and a lotta EGOs...
After two weeks, I was cig-free.

Absolutely DON'T STRESS! It takes some folks a little longer to adjust. For every cig you avoid, you're going in the right direction.:vapor::vapor::

Hey I have the Nport too! It was my transition liquid.. Now I use that with a mix of Red Hots.. It reminds me of the peppermints you get at Pizza Hut with your check LOL... I actually went with the Nport cuz I smoked Newports and thought I'd stick with what I knew but now I've gotten to the point where I like the other oddball flavors out there. Just ordered a bottle from the UK thats a waffle flavor (yummy goodness with maple syrup and butter, as the description read.)

To stay on topic though.. I actually went a full two months with no analogs and just the other day a friend of ours went out and bought a pack of them and I had a couple.. Oddly enough now I get zero buzz from them and the flavor just isn't as great as it used to be. I actually came back upstairs and vaped quite a bit just to wash the taste out of my mouth LOL I think you've got the right mentality though, don't beat yourself up about falling off and remind yourself that every time you say no to one makes for a better life overall :)
