Okay, so I've been at this for a couple months now and tried a decent number of juices. I quit cigs, but I'm still a cigar smoker (2-4 a month) and I have an appreciation for good tobacco. Because of that I mostly tend to order tobacco or tobacco blends. The problem I've encountered is that I rarely, if ever, taste any actual tobacco in the vast majority of juices.

Here's a rundown of some juices that I recall off the top of my head:

Boba's - I mostly get cereal/graham cracker. Not a trace of tobacco, though.

Gorilla juice - Freshly baked banana bread all day long. Again, not a hint of tobacco.

Bounty Hunter - Rich white cake batter. If I tried this blindly and you told me there was tobacco in it, I'd laugh at you.

VR Kentucky Vanilla Blend - Rich vanilla. BUT, if I french inhale I do actually detect a little tobacco, and only on the inhale. If I exhale through the nose I get the same rich vanilla flavor. I'd like to be able to taste the tobacco and not just smell it.

There are more than follow the same pattern. I'm vaping NLV's Renegade RY4 right now and I'm getting the caramel-vanilla thing, but no tobacco.

I should not that I really like all of the juices I've mentioned and would buy more of all of them. I guess I'm just a little disappointed that I can't taste tobacco in any of them.

Am I the only one this happens to? Any suggestions on some other juices to try?

Check out want2vape.com they have some nice cigar and pipe tobacco juices. I'm crazy over the Acid Blondie right now. Sadly I just ran out and they aren't shipping any orders until the 25th. Have you found a reviewer who seems to have similar tastes to yours? I'd suggest Dr. Vapenstein's reviews and see what you think.

(I guess I can't link to his site, try google)

I find his sitemap page easiest to get to the reviews you want.

as everyone else said, want2vape is the best for tobacco. Blondie is extracted from Drew Estates Acid Blondie. If you don't like flavored cigars you won't like this one. Managua tastes like a pretty good Maduro cigar. I love it. I'd compare it to a Rocky Patel Edge in quality. Vaperite has some awesome tobaccos that are extracted as well. Coming from a cigar lover, you can't go wrong with these

Now you're speaking my language! :)

It's funny, when it comes to cigars I don't care for any added or infused flavors, but with e-cigs I enjoy the blending of flavors. I haven't actually tried any straight "cigar" flavored liquid and, frankly, I'm a little nervous that it will fall short since I'm still actively smoking cigars.

Also keep in mind that these juices taste more like how the tobacco smells, rather than how tobacco taste when it is burnt.

Agreed. I've grown to like many of the "tobacco" flavors as interesting and somewhat (some of them) complex flavors in their own right. If I regard a decent "555" as an actual "cigarette surrogate" flavor, then it fails. But if I think of it as a "toasted hazelnut plus lots of other things in the background" sort of flavor, then I really enjoy it as such.

I think this is probably what it boils down to. It would explain why the tobacco tends to get swallowed up by any additional flavors. The flavor of an actual burning cigar would be quite impossible to drown out, but the aroma of the leaves would be pretty easy to overwhelm.

Guess I probably need a paradigm shift more than I need the right juice...

I had those fan favorites, 3 from AVE including Boba, 5 from FSUSA's including Wyatt Earp. Not tobacco to me. TastyVapor's "tobacco" has a hint, supposedly actually from tobacco. I also like Dekang's stronger tobacco flavors like DK-TAB and Red USA Mix. I also like Johnson Creek's Red Oak Tennessee Cured, the smokiest juice I've had, but it's caramel and sweet.

I've been vaping for 2 months and I'm just getting to the end of my giant good juice search. I agree alot of those juices that say tobacco (Boba's, Bounty Hunter) taste nothing like tobacco. They are still great though. But the one juice I've tried that actually tastes like a good tobacco, even though I'm sure theres plenty I haven't tried, is Line Rider from Nitelitevapor. It's my go to when I want a tobacco vape. I'm sure alot of people could tell you more since I haven't tried alot of juices but it's worth a shot. I think it's splendid.

try companies that use pure tobacco extract, read the sticky in this sub-forum.
since you appreciate cigars, want2vape should be a good recommendation. other companies that do this and are known for their tobaccos is BWB, VaporStation, and VapeRite.
+1 Most of these companies offer sample sizes, it may take a while to work through them, but i's worth it. Once you get into the extracted tobaccos you will find that even the unflavored ones have complexities when you vape them at their voltage/ohm sweet spot. I think they're at their best running a little hot. My own mix of two parts Vaperite Organic with one part of their extracted Perique is interesting enough to keep me with it most of the day.
That being said, I sometimes like a little extra flavor in my after dinner vapes or when reading. The Organic peach (semisweet "brandied" peach) tobacco has become a favorite for this, or I just add a flavored "tobacco" like 777 (peppery/ginger?), or even a lemon or lime to my regular mix.

The OP listed five juices: AVE Boba's and Gorilla, NLV Bounty Hunter and Renegade RY4, and Vermillion River Kentucky Vanilla.

I haven't tried Gorilla Juice. While I like real bananas, the two banana-flavor juices I tried vaping just about made me gag. I have, however, vaped a lot of the other four. Three of them---Boba's, Bounty Hunter, and Kentucky Vanilla---are staples in my daily rotation of juices.

They are all delicious juices---some of the best to be had in today's marketplace---but they're very light on tobacco flavor. I mean, very light. Actually, they're closer to dessert vapes than tobacco blends.

I do enjoy many stronger tobacco juices---w2v Managua, Tabak Especial, Morley, Blondie, Alcazar, and Red Pirate; VaporStation Frisco, Tampa, Tennessee, and Phoenix; Clouds of Vapor Black and Tan; Vaperite Organic Tobacco, Organic Honey Tobacco, Organic VR4, and Rou's Toasted Hazelnut; Backwoods Brew Casablanca, Hunter's Blend, and Bacco (Maxboro); NLV U.S. Marshal and Goldrush; Prime Vaping Natural Tobacco; and Vermillion River Kentucky Premium, plus about 200 others (including Dekang), many of which are good, but not as superlative as the group just listed.

So, to the OP---No, it's not you, it's the juices you were vaping. In those juices, tobacco is more an accent than a flavor base.

And last, I agree wholeheartedly with luceblueboy: want2vape makes the best cigar vapes in the world. Period. Donley is a genius with cigar extraction.

Good to know it's not just me. That's basically the conclusion I came to. I guess I'm just a little disappointed that adding anything to tobacco seems to completely overwhelm it. I can only imagine how good Boba's would be, for example, if it had a more dominant rich tobacco flavor (IMO, of course).

Once I adjust my expectations, though, all of those juices are very good and I will definitely continue to purchase them.

VapeRite's tobacco's definitely taste like tobacco.

Your vaping equipment can have a huge effect on taste as well. What are you using?

PV-wise, I'm using an E-Power 14650. I generally rotate between Joye SR atty's, the new CE2 Deluxe, and Ikenvape 1.6Ohm Single Coil cartos. Occasionally I'll use a regular Boge LR carto as well. Purely regarding flavor, I'd have to give a slight edge to the Ikenvape cartos at this point.

Yeah, definitely. I've got quite a long "to buy" list and I'll whittle away at it a bit on each payday. Here are a few I plan on picking up next week (some recommended on this thread, some not):

PrimeVaping PV4
VS Frisco
VR Kentucky Premium

I did just get some NLV Line Rider in a couple days ago and it's probably the closest thing to an analog I've found yet. It has a dry nuttiness about it that reminds me a bit of the Camel Lights I used to smoke.
