After using 4nine(v1), I've learn my lesson to stay away from:-
1. Hybrid adaptor, as if atty leak it'll travel all the way down to the batteries.
2. Magnetic switch, which will have arching issue.

I now use Gus mod due to:-
1. Fuse protection
2. Locking system
3. Airflow control

As Chia have mention, hard hit will only happen when new. Thereafter will need to clean contact.

The downside of Gus mod is its much longer than my 4nine.

After watching way too much reviews on youtube and countless hours on vape forums, this are my opinions and choices:

SMPL by AMOD
Fuss-free and clean design with hybrid top cap for low voltage drop furthermore AMOD from Wotofo always have been stellar on 1:1 also they did not have Epic Design Studio engraved on the firing button, maybe out of respect or to avoid law-suit but to me is better without it since is a clone.

4nine by SXK/infinite
Im eyeing on this to be my stealthiest mech mod and with full copper body, firing button and hybrid top cap (beside contacts being sliver plated brass, not a concern) it definitely hits hard and from SXK/infinite do expect a true 1:1 design also they've been all the rage now but with all that, the air vent designs are alittle off so you might need to improvise with some drilling and like all mech mods that uses hybrid top cap, best to use button top battery to prevent short though most reviews has no issue with flat top.

Praxis mech by SXK/infinite
i personally love the innovation behind the firing button and with an additional design from SXK/infinite that the authentic doesnt has was swirling grooves design on the body for better gripping, definitely helps while firing. Note that the button has been reported to be tougher when first time use but also reported by many user that it break-in easily within a week and became buttery smooth after that. Plus, another reason from me to get this mech, is the DERRINGER! lol it be neat to pair them together!

Fuhattan full copper with 1/1 engraved Firing button
what can i say, Ameravape screwed up and ...... off his ex-machinist that produce his infamous manhattan "competition" mech mod and he went on making a complete 1:1 in 99.99% copper but with better air vent and one hellava lower voltage drop, best part is the price is way way more affordable than the real one. Now since it has been sometime back, it can be tougher finding one that has 1/1 engraved at the buttom. Those that has different engraving like mickey mouse gloves or no engraving at all, can perform just as good.

Honorable to mention is Tomahawk by Mohawk, like 4nine magnetic firing switch design but is the other way around, also converting to 18350 its length is only at 41mm! daaaaaamn! but im still waiting those clone experts i mentioned above to start dropping 'em!:D
All in all, hope this helps and there maybe some more i just couldnt get it out my head much now but i'll be sure to share with you once i got it figure out.:vapor:

Just one off-topic safety advise since it relates to mech mod and its users, Do take note to allow your battery to rest for 10min fresh after charged before using it, There have been reports of battery venting when it was used immediately right after it was fully charged.

I just got a red carbon fiber Fuhattan. Very nice mod! The only downside of that one is no locking ring. True, you can stand the thing up on it's switch loaded down with a battery and topper without it firing, but I do not trust it in a pocket or purse. It either has to be in my hand or standing on a surface.

In the same order as the Fuhattan I got an Ehpro EA clone, and that is my favorite to date! The switch is great! The locking ring is awesome! When it came to mechanicals, my gripe was always the locking ring. They always stuck, or the firing buttons always loosened, and I would always have to take off my firing button assembly to either loosen a stuck locking ring, or tighten the bolt on the switch! I don't see any issues with the Ehpro EA clone at all.

I almost got the Gus mod, what a beauty! But decided on another cheaper mech mod which am happily using now :)

I'll vote for Praxis mod paired with a Derringer!

Please do share more info on your cheaper mech mod.

Got mine overseas, local made from there, mentioned it before in a post somewhere, it's called Braille mod, simple tube set-up, 18650 only, no adapter for kick though. I think an extension sleeve can be machined if you are really dead set on installing a kick or kick2. I paired it with a clone Paradigm Magma rda, using it on dual or single coil depending on mood. So far so good. There's a single youtube review on it, so I guess it isn't famous, but build quality is solid. Cost was around S$95 for mod only. If budget wasn't an issue, I would have gotten the Gus, but at S$245 (if not directly sourced from them) or S$150 (directly sourced but not factoring shipping costs) and the likelihood of it getting confiscated by you know who. Hope this helps.

Hades V2 26650 Mechanical By Footoon Mods

Stainless steel
26650
28.5mm (top cap)
Rhodium plated contacts
Spring switch
Serial number on switch
201 hybrid connector

First look by grimmgreen: http://youtu.be/_uvstE6aw2U?t=35m5s
Even though this not a clone(lol) but rumors has it that the price range at 60-80 USD, a freaking great deal for an authentic 26650 powered mech mod with one of a kind firing/locking button design, a true beaut, inside and out! :hubba:
