If thats the case it wouldve been banned long ago, but that wouldve brought public outcry, with these news, whether they are true or not, they can expedit the process of banning or heavy regulations

It is the case, and regs are structured and in place.
I see you haven't read the proposed FDA mandated regulations, or paid attention to the taxes states are already attaching to vaping
Its all about allowing BT to control the bulk if the profit.
It's not a secret, just read for yourself.
New products not grandfathered in must go through a PMTA application process costing 2-10 million dollars.
Not a problem for BT, who will push cig a likes.

Not one mention in all the regulations about exploding batteries or e CIG fire safety.
Not a single word.
No outcry when sheeple are all concerned about perception and cloud size, or idiots shorting batteries.

Since at the heart of the matter we seem to be in agreement...
I'm still working at figuring out why I am often compelled to disagree with you...
:)

So I am starting to think that you feel there is NOTHING that can be done.
That what will happen, and how it will happen, is a foregone conclusion.

And that all of the concerns related to public perception of vaping is just us chasing our tails.

Do I have that right?

Stop posting crap like this, in every single one of these "stories" there is never a mention of what kind of battery, how low the build was, or even eat the devices in question were. Posting things like this facilitates the ANTZ and other like groups to go after vaping in the negative light. Read up on battery safety and proper use of mods/mechs and a lot of these "stories" would be non existent, a little information goes a long way.

Can't fix stupid, if you're going to go super sub ohm on an efest battery or stick a flush 510 on a hybrid then stuff like this happens

Your post is very contradictory

On the one hand you say:
"there is never a mention of what kind of battery, how low the build was, or even eat the devices in question were."

OK... but then you say:
"Can't fix stupid, if you're going to go super sub ohm on an efest battery or stick a flush 510 on a hybrid then stuff like this happens"

So, while you admit we are never given actual facts on the gear, batteries or circumstances it is OK to assume and perpetrate these assumptions as fact that anyone who has had an ecigarette explode on them is "stupid" vaping at super sub ohm on an efest battery or using as fake hybrid with flush 510's...
not picking on you, but, I see this type of thing posted in every thread like this and honestly it's no better than the false assumptions the ANTZ throw around as "fact".

Any way you look at this it is not a good thing.
Period.
People being severely injured by ecigarettes is not a good thing and something does need to change to help fix this problem, at the very least greatly minimize it from ever happening. I do see some big manufacturers in the industry already taking that step forward to address this and I applaud them wholeheartedly, but, we need to do a heck of a lot better at a grass roots level too from the local vapor store all the way down the line to this community as a whole.

Public perception led by propaganda reinforces acceptance of the regulations being put in place by a corrupt FDA.
Its misdirection.
The focus SHOULD be on the corrupt local politicians and federal agency heads.

I feel too much of our attention is placed on bickering about blaming and responsibility, and cloud size, while the corrupt take control of the entire industry right under our noses.

Did an edit for you :) wasn't trying to imply that EVERYONE that has had one explode was stupid. Obviously there are defects from the manufacturer and things like that where it is completely unavoidable for things to go wrong but a lot of these accidents could be greatly reduced if the user of said mods read up on battery safety/mod use and if the B&Ms that sell the stuff informed their customers instead of just trying to make a quick buck. Just seems like every week there is a thread on how another teen has had one explode in their face or in their pocket and so on.

So I am starting to think that you feel there is NOTHING that can be done.
That what will happen, and how it will happen, is a foregone conclusion.

Efforts have to produce results.

When I was managing a department I never got sentimental over the "hard workers" who didn't get results. They got laid off.

Why would I choose to keep people who can't get results?

Ay26OXbqG8XDwDzku1swhUksxc-1p8rgDkpYdP5UBVGzT0MRHMQQIIyxqXXSd3i6sXeFkA=s161

I am curious if the many excuses I've seen on this board over almost 4 years would be *acceptable* to use at your jobs? Would you be able to get away with it in a presentation to a management team, and still keep your job?

Empty insect activity that produces no results is called spinning wheels. Yet people engaged in the activity are out of breath, huffing and puffing that they "did so much"......There is all this high-fiving and back patting .....(mostly self-congratulatory).........but no results.

Somebody once said hard work only equals hard work. Results are a different thing. :)

There are tons of companies out there who consistently do well, with limited budgets and personnel.......they don't use the excuse that the "Big Guys with the deep pockets and power" are the reason for not producing results. (Well, some do, and they are bankrupt and out of business). Successful ones have figured out a way to succeed and they adjust their plan of action for whatever circumstances they find themselves in.

ALL leadership is defined by results and impact.

Unfortunately, you often don't get a 2nd chance to lead, once you have reached "tail chasing" mode.

Right now I see vaping can only go in 2 directions. Personally I think it may experience a re-birth after many obstacles and struggles, almost in spite of the mistakes that were made.

I've seen racehorses with good breeding do nothing but lose. Then they are claimed by a new trainer, given pasture time, and then the new trainer changes the way the horse is conditioned....or the surface they compete on.......and voila. Money maker!

Seabiscuit was one of the well known ones, but I can name hundreds.

80,000 people get their hands/feet mangled by lawn mowers every year ( on avg.) why isnt there restrictions on lawn mowers???

Good question. Deserves an answer.

See, there aren't restrictions on many things and the answer is important.

ATVs is good example. Our area has thousands of people who come here to ATV in facilities bordering nat'l forests. Every year there are 3-4 people who are killed. Yet, more ATV places being built.

How do they win?

All results are measurable and can be studied. At the end of the day there is only results. If you don't have them then go back thru EVERY SINGLE effort, and figure out why you failed, or your team failed. There are metrics for this. Ways to measure. Because making excuses and blaming doesn't cut it.

Unless you guys are gonna say that ONLY vaping is beleagured by all these outside forces but everything else like lawnmowers, atvs, cell phone batts, health supplements, etc. aren't.

Which is what I've been listening to for 3 years now.

Ask the right questions........get the right answers. Then you have a game plan.

If you were on The Apprentice, and trotted out the stuff I see here, I am pretty sure Mr. Trump would order you out of the room. :) I don't even like the guy, but there is no denying that he is successful in his business endeavors. :)

That is why i hate mech mods.

They dont havd the safety features of regulated devices.

The people want to be ultra cool and vape a coil as low as possible without even considering battery safety and ohms law to understand how many amps you are trying to pull out of a battery with that coil.

Sorry but i am not politically correct.

People abusing batteries until they go boom is makinv vaping look very bad to the public.

So you have state government outlawing vaping because they are losing all that tax money from tobacco, people contacting their representatives because vaping is dangerous.

I see a perfect storm coming where there will be a complete ban on vaping except for big tobacco products.

A while back i started a thread "Do some vapers have a death wish?".

In that thread i laid this problem at the feet of the cloud chasers, and the vape shops that build ultra low ohm coils without educating abour battery safety.

I closed with the comment we can either police ourselves or watch vaping be destroyed.

anytime i see a story about a ecig (reg or unreg) i chalk it up to a ...../ dummy was operating it.....and he got his 15minutes of fame as a ..... / dummy.

Where should vapers be directly their efforts?

You know, DC2, there's been a lot of posts about this over the years, and I'll not regurgitate mine because it would take many hours of effort that I don't have time to re-do.
It's not just about directing efforts, it is about choosing which efforts, how and when, and it's not just vapers, its an entire industry.
I don't advocate trying to put the genie back in the bottle, but certainly, given time, there is still plenty of hope for vaping, IMHO.
Part of success is being in the right place at the right time, and very organized and prepared when it arrives.
It will arrive again. Society changes, people change, customary behaviors change.

The gloom and doom scenario I just don't buy into, because I do not believe it is permanent.

As an aside, the ridiculous notion that BT is going to "take over" the vaping world with cigalikes is entirely absurd. They won't get the sales. And they are not going to produce things that don't sell just so that everybody will go back to smoking. If they wanted that, they could just not do anything ..... I mean, why spend the $$.

It seems like twice a month, for 4 years, I've read about studies, most of them not kind to vaping, and then of course, I hear that the studies are "fixed" too. Seems to me a study could have come out every month done by researchers sympathetic to the vaping side, but I haven't seen many, because nobody is funding them.
SAFTA said in December of 2015 that the average sales in a vape store was 26K a month......they surveyed only about 540 stores. I am thinking gee, if you multiply 540 by $1,000, that's $540,000. Seems like enough to pay for a study or 2, huh?
But there are actually about 3,500+ vape businesses in the US as of 12/2015 so that would be about 3.5 million $$ if every business contributed just $1,000--again, plenty enough to hire independent researchers to do a study.
"U.S. brick-and-mortar vape shops generate annual non-online sales of more than $300,000 per store"........
U.S. VAPE SHOPS AVERAGE $26K IN MONTHLY SALES, ACCORDING TO INDUSTRY INDEX - SFATA | Smoke Free Alternatives Trade Association

(SFATA) says that the industry will be worth an astounding $10 billion or more by 2017.

However, most sources report that the future of vaping is quite bright, to the tune of $50 billion a year to 2025.
Global E Cigarette & Vaporizer Market 2015-2025 - Analysis & Forecasts for the $50 Billion Industry

MOre:
E-Cigarette Industry Expected to Hit $10 Billion by 2017 | VAPE Magazine

Unfortunately, there wasn't a centralized and professional trade association with a huge membership and studies weren't done, and bans rolled across the nation, state by state. (lack of planning, centralized leadership, etc.)

But that's all water under the bridge. Vaping has a very bright future, according to investors in the sector.

Ahhhaaaaa..... Local politicians like those in Westminster, MA. you mean? Tempers Flare at Potential Tobacco Sale Ban Meeting

The ban on all tobacco products being sold in that town would have also included all forms of ecigs being labeled as tobacco products as well showing the general ignorance in contradiction to individual liberties rather then taking a serious look at THR and promoting non smoke alternatives. The main stream "Brain Washing" I see too many vapers still clinging onto is the concept that nicotine is as addictive as hard drugs like crack or herion while the actual science shows otherwise!

Gee you might have to change your eating habits in order to "That Most Addictive element known to mankind out of your system as the Hysteria heightens even further with more BS reports like the one seen at Top 10 Foods That Flush Nicotine Out Of The Body

In fact the pdf file posted on one of the social networks, Bill 2152 in MA. This is how far Political ignorance in favor of Big $$$ constituents will go!

SENATE DOCKET, NO. 2152
FILED ON: 2/29/2016 SENATE

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts
_______________
In the One Hundred and Eighty-Ninth General Court (2015-2016)
_______________
An Act to protect youth from the health risks of tobacco and
nicotine addiction. Whereas, The deferred operation of this
act would tend to defeat its purposes, which are to immediately protect children and others from addiction to,
and the harmful health effects of, tobacco and nicotine,
therefore, it is hereby declared to be an emergency law,
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety and health. Be it enacted by the Senate and
House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows;

blah blah blah legal rederick continued in https://lookaside.fbsbx.com/file/Bi...jtF4kzaraO6FhM4hc8DTD4eLSrPBhqe8H5fI__WuXZdhG

And what does all that amount to and from what? Nightshade variety garden fresh vegetables with a natural LOW LEVEL no less of nicotine will no longer be allowed to be served in school lunches state wide?! No more tomato slices in sandwiches or on hamburgers, no more tomato sauce for things like pizza slices, no more potato sides or Fresh Fries that go with burgers since those are sliced potatoes deep fried in light cooking oil, etc. due to FEAR OF NIC ADDICTION starting at an early age! This is what is called Brain Dead Thinking being proposed at the state level! Big Pharma once again scores since they carry patches, nic inhalers, etc. since nicotine is that so much worse drug to be avoided at all costs! despite what the real science shows that nicotine is no more addictive by itself as caffeine is in your morning JAVA!

Now for an alternate reality watch this interview which gets into regulation as well as actual facts regarding nicotine and absoption by various means. Elephant in the Room – Clive Bates Talks Nicotine, Harm Reduction & Public Health (Reg Watch)

I don't think the fact he was 16 really matter in this case, he didn't appear to be Mis using it but it's more the fact it's a mech mod.

Unregulated devices like these are part of the reason vaping gets such bad press, by all means by a normal, regulated mod and use it but imo mech mods should be banned. I am aware if your using them correctly with a good battery and proper resistance coil they can be safe but there is a lot of room for error and increasing amounts of uneducated people are beginning to use mech mods for the clouds.

Couldn't disagree more! Although I don't own or use a mech, I'm pretty sure I could do so safely. The device in question was pared with a tank that was not compatible. You are throwing the baby out with the bath water.

When used correctly, they are safe, period.

Yes, I'm not disagreeing they aren't safe when used correctly, but too many people don't know how to use them correctly so things like this end up happening.

Why would you Make this statement ............Then say they should Be BANNED?

That makes a much sense as BANNING Automobiles because a Few Careless People refuse to learn to drive properly.
Banning Motorcycles because a Bunch of Darwin Candidates Want to Ride he Back wheel down busy Streets.

In Each and Every Case it is either a rare Malfunction or a Person not intelligent enough to Learn before attempting to operate.

We do not need more Bans and we have enough Signs in this country as is. We need people to stop acting Brain Dead and Take some responsibility for themselves.

This is why you shouldn't use any tool or electronic device without knowing a little bit a bout what you are doing.

Its not like you need a degree.

A few hours online would tell a vaper all they need to know about using a PV or mech safely.
That's how I learned as well as many other ECF members.
I can't excuse someone for acting stupid trying to look cool.

No.
Banning everything that isn safe for the lowest common denominator is ridiculous and makes us all stupid.

Education is the answer.
