Mech mods seem to be missing a price point. Not much in the $100-$150 price range. Is there?

I see low end mods from $20-$80 and high end mods from $180 and up but theres very little in between. Im looking for something between $100-$150 shipped but cant find much. I see the Precise mods are in that range but ill be using a kick and its a pain to take the kick out every time I want to change the battery. Other than that I see very few nice mods in that price range. I don't expect $250 quality for $150 but I wish there was more in the middle. The quality of the Precise simplicity and the price range are perfect. Unfortunately the mod doesn't fit my vaping style. Are there any others out there? Ideally I'm looking for an 18500 mod but ill settle for telescopic if I have to. Air channels in the top cap so I can flush mount a boge in a tank. Kick2 compatible also.

Ive done nothing this weekend but look for the right mod with all the features I want but have had zero luck(in my price range).

I have been looking at the classifieds. I've noticed mods hold their value pretty well. It seems like the stuff for sale is only a few dollars cheaper than buying it new. I'd rather buy new than pay $130 for a $150 mod. I don't have a ton of knowledge on mod and their prices so I may be off on my observation. The ones I saw for sale and googled we're barely a deal. The other reason I'm not stalking the sale ads is the mod purchase itself. I'm not buying it. My birthday is in two weeks and my wife wants to buy a new setup. She basically wants me to pick out what Mod I want, the kick2 and some other fun vape stuff then send her links to everything. With the classys you need to be much quicker on the drawl.

the real problem is there are a couple in the price point your looking for but then comes shipping, and this usually drives up the price just enough to be outside the range your looking for.

if it was me even though a true gift is nice, I would work together with her.

she gets the roller and kick ring you pick up shipping and the kick, something like that. or she gets the mod you buy the goodies etc.
the only way to get everything you want cheap enough(mod, kick, extras) is going to be the clone route. unless somehow you run into a steal somewhere, it doesnt help most vendors jack the price up as well

I had my heart set on the nemesis but didn't want to spend that kind of money. I looked on ebay to see what was there and noticed someone selling a chi you in my town. After a couple messages I found out he quit vaping and was selling off his mod collection. Long story short, today I bought a matte nemesis in mint condition for $180. I am stoaked!! Ill let my wife buy the kick2 and a scuba or s&P tank. Totally stoaked!!

Most mods Hold their value well. Some do not though. Do your research! One Manufacturer (wont mention their name) recently allowed one of their vendors to drop their mechanical mod prices 35 percent when they changed the design. I saw my mod value go down the tube. I am not happy about it and I let the manufacturer know but he does not seem to care. I doubt I will buy from his company again. I am looking for items that hold their value so I can recoup close to what I paid when I sell it as long as I take care of the device. Make sense? It does to me.

Makes sense on one level. For my uses, I have to disagree, tho. I rather pick up a great mod that has great functional value to me than buy something I want to sell later on.

Vaping is very much evolving. We're still just in the mid-early stages. I don't think we can expect any of our gear to hold its value very long. I rather see our gear evolving than being kept at an artifical "crude" level for sake of re-sale value. Once a better design comes out, like it apparently did in your case, value will drop.

Yes quick on the draw however you really broaden your scope as to what is out there, learn a lot about them, learn to recognize them and a lot of times what retail and resale values are. For me it is quite the education. You also can learn which ones are quality which ones are not and details and features that make a quality mod.

I'd say it's fair to presume the OP has his mod by now, t'was a month ago
If not, get the Bulldog Basic!

I'm glad you disagreed with him after this but I have to disagree with you in a small way. His idea that an investment should or has to hold it's value (to the point where he contacted the manufacturer... Holy .......)...that makes sense on no level whatsoever, not even one level - it's incredibly irrational and naive.

Not really picking a fight with you or your comment, but letting him think that his rationalisations might be right in some way generally helps keep the delusional thinking alive.
Smokke - there is no such thing as a genuine stable value. Hasn't ever been one. If one was installed it would be a form of fraud.

As with anything collectible mods are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them... And also, as with anything 'collectible', the market will fluctuate wildly over time as trends change... Right now ecig mods are a 'hot' item... Will they be in 6 mos, or a year, or 5 years? Who knows, but expecting them to maintain their value long-term is unrealistic...

Just my opinion -YMMV... :)

There are a few mods that will hold their value from this year, They all have a limited run, and will continue to hold their value as the fad to own for most of them has worn off or the ability to replicate them is just not easily done. There are a few mods that have been cloned/replicated that have harmed the originals value recently - Chi You and Nemesis severely. These mods have been made into the thousands however, so the value even by the original mod makers themselves has been degraded.

As for future mods etc, batteries are the future, and designs around batteries dictate mod architecture.. A cylindrical tube will probably be the design norm with mechanical mods for many more years. As such only the most sought after and least made mods will retain any collectible value... Obviously other factors like the FDA and laws can affect the outcome as well..

Paps SS 2.5

This...Great mod from a modder who actually puts time in with customer service (here, VW and a bunch of other forums).

Also, the vapinaze sceptre when it comes out will be around $115. Most of the gus stuff is around there. Dingos are in that range.

This

Vanilla Mechanical Mod | Vapersphere

Switch it to USD and it goes down under $120. Shipping is about 17 bucks

There are some smaller us modders/shops putting things out in that range. Also, if you troll the classies, you'd be surprised what you can find at a decent price.

Spotting the thread made me think of something as i was on another site about to ordr something until i checked the exchange rate again.,

as for the title in all actuality many of the top mods are exactly in the price range specified. it is our exchange rate going nuts lately driving the prices higher for the US market.
