Hey, somewhat new here. I keep hearing things about mechanicals, can anyone explain to me what is so special about them? Why would I have one instead of a variable voltage, and how it works. Also if you give a good explanation and it actually encourages me into buying one, what is a very good mod to buy? Price is not really an issue.

Thank you.

A mech mod has no electronics (unless you use a kick) Repairs are easily done.

What makes them so special now is the ability to vape tremendously low ohms (which you cant do on a VAMO, Provari, Evic)

I have a K100 - its under $50 most places. The Natural (by Smoktech) is also a great mech Mod as well. It depends on what you like in a mech and how much money youre willing to burn.....Some mechs are Reaaaaalllllly expensive.

Good question. Most people who prefer mechanicals like that the amperage is limited to what the battery can dump out. This makes possible some truly unholy setups with multiple coils and sub ohm resistance that a vv / vw can't handle. Sorry i'm on my phone at the moment and can't give you a direct link right now, but do a YouTube search for "dodeca coils" and watch the first result. That sort of beast is only possible on a mechanical.

Personally, I prefer mechanicals because they are much more efficient for the size. I owned a ProVari at one time. It was a great vape, but it was like vaping on a mag lite. Vamo, Zmax, etc are even bulkier.... Unless you get a mini, but that would mean switching out an 18350 every 2 or 3 hours. Minis also usually have the firing button directly in the middle, which forces some carpal-tunnel inducing grips. Even if you prefer the consistent power of a vw device, a kicked mech will be smaller and friendlier to your grip than an electronic.

Super-T Manufacturing has what I think are the best, most electrically efficient mechanicals.

A mech has no electronic circuitry inside, making it pretty much indestructible. It uses its own metal body to conduct electricity. What that means, beside great durability, is that you have no limiting circuitry to put a cap on how much power you can draw from the battery (except of course the battery own limit). So if you get a good battery, you can typically draw 10 ampere from it, and some high quality MnKe allow you 20 ampere, as opposed to 3.5-5 on Provaries or VAMOs.

People use mechs for durability and that ability to draw more power, allowing extremely high power level vaping. A good example is multiple coils, since you are drawing a multiple times more power than single coil.

Something that has the best conductivity and a bottom switch. Telescoping would be nice, what else is there in a mod?

Gus 22 Telescopic.

Usually, after conductivity which is of course the baseline for a good mod, there is look (my most important requirement), switch design as you said, size (which falls under look i suppose) etc.. Many including myself choose their mods based one what RBA they plan to use it with, and vice versa. As a result i got a pretty good looking collection of mod+rba combos that match each other in design.

Top battery contact is easily fixed with a trip to lowes however the bottom button IMO is great but does have a drop in voltage. I still love the Gus tele for a pocket vape. It's one mech that has a special place in my collection due to its ability to upgrade and it's ability to take almost any battery w/ buying extra tubes.....paps button will also fit telescopic.

Gotta be the Super-T ELA for the best conducting bottom-firing telescope. Rhodium plated gold contacts win for conductivity and resistance to tarnishing or blemishes from arcs. And the telescoping mechanism is quick release, so changing out a battery, even changing from an 18650 to an 18350 just takes a couple of seconds. They have some other nice features as well, such as adjustable height center post, adjustable airflow control for traditional atties and cartos, bling rings and choice of finishes.

Search YouTube for super-t ela. There's only the video of the prototype so far, but I daresay there'll be some reviews and showing off by the end of next week.

You'll be waiting for a couple of months for it though.

Sick, thanks for the knowledge. Are there any other mods that you guys would recommend, I really dig the bottom switch if anyone knows any other mods that are great out there?

Thanks

So which mech mod did you decide on? The suspense is killing me. :)

I have a question. I ordered my first mech, it is the KTS storm. I'm sure it's not a great mech, but for my first one, I couldn't pass up the $25 price I got it for.

On to my question. Can you use delivery units like a Protank or Iclear 30 on these? I know it won't be as good as a rebuildable, but I haven't started rebuilding yet.
