Wanted to resurrect this thread for some info.
Since the LP has become the style of choice for so many, has anyone heard if the mech woodvils will have the small catch cup? He said once there may be two styles but he was referring to button placement. I'm curious about the atty choices we can look forward to.

Only Rob knows but I think one of the components requiring a re-design is the connector. His stock connector will work for the 14's but I don't think you can just shave it for the larger RDA's... it would look odd and not a lot of support for the heavier RDA's. This is where Rob had some decisions to make... does he go with a base plate (with an o ring groove) the full 22 or does he go small enough so the much thicker door of the woodvil will still slide up and down? (If you choose an RDA that stops the up slide that's your problem)... making the woodvil mechanical isn't the challenge... making a mech woodvil with the minimal amount of uncommon parts (and not creating an "options" nightmare), provide the flexibility of the Grand, and please everybody will be pretty hard... not envious of Rob on this one...

I never really understood why not being able to slide the door up IS a problem.
The only thing I can think of that would even remotely be a problem is the slight magnet pull on the battery when you slide it down. But there's not enough room behind the door for that to be a REAL problem.
