The mod bug!
I'm currently in process of designing a mechanical switch. Requirements; no wires, copper tube, and switch assembly removeable for service. Enclosed is a rough cad shot.
Items in green: non-metallic.

Sure, looks good. You could exchange the spring for two ring magnets and have smoother action. Why the extra screw on the left of the bolt? With the spring/magnets in the right place they would stop the bolt from going too far. Or maybe it is an arc chute?

I was believing the mentioned bolt would have to be removed to allow pushing the button to father in, to assit in removing from the tube... Yet, the placement of the contact would restrict that happening any way.
I'll sleep on it, while vaping.

I can make another suggestion. No pictures though, sorry. I stole the idea from NGP mod.

An external ring that slides up and down your tube, covering contacts to complete the circuit. My modification to the original NGP idea was to spring load it (or use magnets) and put the contacts on the inside.

Not sure if I explained it very clear, it's still at the "I'm contemplating it" stage

I read mention of a "roller type mechanical"... I'm about burnt out more on mechanical switch than a wire could get...

There is the Roller mod that has a top side mount switch that rotates to lock.
