Hey everyone,
So I've been vaping for a couple months now, splurged a bit on my first purchase and bought an Alpha from Altsmoke. Great PV love the size and durability, but . . . I'm in a spending mood and wanting to spoil myself a bit. Now I've been researching for the last couple days on what to get for my next purchase. I kind of want to try out a bottom feeder but not too sure if it will be right for me, as I would almost rather have a smaller device and have something that will fit in my pocket without being clunky and big.

So with that being said I have also gotten a 5v passthrough which I don't really care for and a VV box mod from madvapes that is really tickling my fancy. Seems like everything tastes better at whatever voltage I have it set at currently (not really sure what it is nor do I really care).

Now to the question I ask all of you. Honest opinions will be much appreciated.

What would you get if you were wanting to have the ability to use different battery types or be vari-volt?
Or would you go Reo Grand for the 18650 and bottom fed?

This is one of my first posts but I feel like I have put alot of research into the vaping community mostly through Nick or GrimmGreen as he's infamously known as but recently have been browsing here and decided to finally give some input and try to help others out. I have already gotten 4 of my friends and 2 of their parents to quit smoking analogs.

Now as a native 510 user I'm thinking thats where I will stay but might be swayed into an empire if one were to magically come up for sale on here (hint hint). I like to drip on 306's as I haven't found a good 510 atty to date.

I don't know much about the megalodon or the reo. But I would say the lava tube would be be and clunky in your pocket. Don't get me wrong.......I love it. There it is between a provari and a ego 650

I've never owned a Lavatube (I don't need VV) and I've never owned a Reo though I have tried a provari and a Reo, I've gotta vote for the Megaladon. I'm happy enough with mine that I bought a second one as soon as they went back in stock (SS).
Just my opinion, but being able to go from 18650 to the stealth 18350 and a locking Bottom button did it for me.

Hmmm, if only my Cube was able to do that. Being square, it don't roll around and for some reason it seems to transfer more power to the atty.

It really is a toss up to me right now as I own a t-shirt shop so whatever I'm vaping at the moment will be out of my pocket in arms reach for easy grabbing. If the community says they prefer so and so for battery life and durability I might just go that way. As I mentioned I have an Alpha so that can always be my out and about mod. Money isn't really a factor either but would like to keep it under $150 for the mod itself. While I would love to have a Darwin I just dont think it will be long before something else comes out with that form factor at a little more reasonable price

I have had all of the PV's you mention , the lavatube is indeed VV , but not very well made . In my opinion , if you want something that you can run at 3.7 , 5 , 6 or even 7.4 . I would opt for the REO "Grand" I like my lava tube, and all my GG's , but my Reo is my most dependable , drive down the road , goto , PV Hands down . If you check my signiture , you will see what is listed first . JMHO

The only thing that seems a bit hard to understand for me is the size of a reo. Now as I don't have any 18650's currently I'm only running 14500's. I'm trying to imagine it compared to my 3xAA vv box mod I got sitting next to me and would imagine it to be a bit deeper not sure about the width. Is that carbon fiber on your reo? looks pretty cool whatever it is.

The two top of the line variable volt and variable wattage models on the market due to their features are the Provari and the Darwin. I prefer the Darwin due to being able to use 1.5 ohm dual coil cartos, the battery life (21 hours), the boost circuit technology for excellent consistency and because it is variable wattage. But both are top of the line.

There is a variable volt juice feeder mod but I can't remember the site.

As I'm sitting here now and thinking about this I find myself reaching for my cheap little $35 vv box mod instead of my alpha.
Anyone have suggestions on attys or cartos that would give off a better hit at 3.7? I have ordered a couple different lr cartos and find myself burning them up really easily.

If the box mod is truely variable volt, then just move it up to 5.0 volts and you will get better hit with standard resistence cartos or attys. You could also throw a dual coil carto on it at about 4.8 volts and get nice warm vapor also. But you also need to be using high enough nic strength liquid for a better throat hit. Around 24mg.

you know I have a reo grand I used to own 2 grands and a reo mini and a mini woodvile and I loved them lots but then I bought a vv pv and I won't mention any names and all the sudden my reo's just didn't do it for me anymore and I sold all but one don't get me wrong they are wonderfully made PVs and as soon as the vv Reo is released I will own one of those but after using regulated voltage I'm just not happy with unregulated voltage and that is just my preference so take it for what it is. but if you do buy a Reo and don't like it I sold all of mine in the classifieds in under 15mins so you're not stuck with it.

I would try a REO. They are wonderfully made and very reliable. You can use LR cartos with them and they produce great vapor. They are coming out with a vv REO soon (as kabonk mentioned) and you might want to check these out as well. As far as vv goes, you have a lot of options. The Provari, the Buzz Pro, and others. Good luck, and ask any questions you may have. :)

Yeah , had a few dings , so I covered it with carbon fiber . Think it makes it more personal .

What would you get if you were wanting to have the ability to use different battery types or be vari-volt?

One that takes different sized batteries - Riva Indulgence V3 (don't let the cheap price fool you), Silver Bullet, Hog Mod, Touchwood 18650 (has a long waiting list from the UK)

Vari-volt - BuzzPro from notcigs, hubby likes his ProVari's

Or would you go Reo Grand for the 18650 and bottom fed?

Yes..I love the Grand but I also know of another box mod that's well worth the price (I have 2 of them). Krimson Kustoms right here on ECF is the company. JamesW builds some awesome bottom feeder mods if you like the box mod look.

As for the lavatube, I don't care for mine for a number of reasons which I don't want to try to explain unless you really want to know. Also, the megalodon is an okay mod...I just hated to have to adjust the switch in it every time I changed batteries. Mine was a bit touchy.

Thats what it looked like to me for the don seemed like alot of adjusting although that was only when switching battery sizes/voltages, thats why i was kind of looking at the empire but having not used 901's personally I wouldn't jump on that bandwagon as easily as any other 510 native device.

Anyone have a Reo grand and mini that has personal preference over one certain Reo for any reason? At basically the same price point that they are I'm trying to weigh out pros and cons. I know a 14500 batt will last almost all day if not all day for me, not so sure anymore as I've been using my vv box as my goto mod.

I appreciate all the input so far and at this point I'll probably go tube mod and cheap bottom feeder (kinda looking at old goat and smartvapes if they ever come back in stock) at the same time to see if its worthwhile unless someone can persuade me into going all out for a bottom feeder that won't let me down.

Just my 2 cents, since money isn't an issue for you...you may want to check out the Zenesis Standard (18650 battery) or the Zenesis Mini Hybrids. They are tube mods with rebuildable atomizers and 4ml & 5ml tanks integrated into the mod. You will never have to buy another carto or atomizer as long as you live. :) They are hand made here in the states out of surgical grade stainless steel (the machine shop he uses to machine the mods is in CHICAGO, BTW :) ).

The waiting list for the February batch just closed today, but you can get on the next waiting list on January 25 for his March delivery. I think the mini will be going for $225 and the Standard will be $240 (?) Don't quote me on those prices...they just changed today.

Just to explain the rebuildable atty a bit...it takes nothing more than replacing a (pre-made) Stainless Steel mesh wick once a month (YMMV) and wrapping a new coil about once a week with Kanthal wire....THAT'S IT! Fill your integrated tank and you're ready to vape! You make the vape as hot or as cool as YOU want by how many wraps in the coil YOU make. Four wraps too cool? Remove a wrap. Four wraps too hot, add a wrap. It also has an adjustable throat hit. You rotate the top cap away from or toward the coil to find your perfect TH. Wicks and Kanthal wire are included with the mod. He gives you a one year supply with the mod. Then you can purchase them on his web site anytime you need to replace your supply (for dirt cheap! a couple of dollars a year, literally). He also sells just a rebuildable atomizer. He has a Z-Atty-P (made just for the Provari), a Z-Atty-G (made just for the GG) and a Z-Atty-U (which is a universal atty).

Here's zen~'s thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...45748-house-hybrids-featuring-zenesis-pv.html There is a TON of info on that thread if you can find the time to read the entire thread...it's worth the effort. :)

And here is his web site: Zenesis Standard

I own a Reo mini which is a great mod. I use it everyday, but the 14500 battery just isn't long enough for a chain vaper like me. I take the Reo mini and my eGo-T when I'm going out. The mini is a great car vape. I also had a Reo Woodvil and Reo Grand which I just sold on Saturday. I've decided the constant changing of the cartos is getting old. Now I have a vv Lavatube (I like it! it's cheap, but it works well!) with a carto and 3ml tank on it. Great solution for anyone who hates changing their atty or cartos all the time. I also have a Zenesis Standard and a Z-Atty-U on order to be delivered in February and March. I'm hoping to use the Z-Atty-U on my Lavatube and be completely finished with cartos...except for my Reo mini and ego-T...which will always be my travel vapes, more than likely...unless zen~comes out with another ingenious mod or I love the Zenesis Standard so much I get the Zenesis mini and make that my travel mod.. :)

It sounds like the Zenesis mini is just what you need (except it's not an 18650 battery...the Standard is). Go check ém out! You'll have to wait for it though...next batch is to be delivered in March. It's a GORGEOUS Hybrid mod.

So sorry for this long post! This mod just seems so perfect, I thought I'd share it with you since you're in the mood to spend money and treat yourself. :D
