I wonder how many people would be interested/willing to put together $ to fund a lab study on rats exposed to heavy PG and VG vapor continually administered over a period of time. Myself I would happily contribute $100. I have seen some study reports but nothing this specific.

Many questions including:

a) Legality/morality

b) Duration (I would say the duration would be the life of the rats = several years, but with information about study posted every few months?)

c) 50/50 VG/PG?

d) Include flavorings?

e) Details of study proposal

Thanks!

NVC is already conducting a study. Just fyi, a study with reliable results, performed right, and which is scientifically acceptable will cost around $100,000. Good Luck

Thanks who is NVC and do you have more info?

How do you know it would cost this much

SanJosse yes I have seen that. It is not really useful. Having some PG in shampoo one uses is NOT the same as vaping. FYI I have been vaping heavily for over a year now. I go through 30ml in 5 days :)

polsmoka,

I was referring to this section especially; Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. You can also refer to this TIME magazine article; Medicine: Air Germicide - TIME

It's called the IVAQS study...

And I actually already did contribute $100 towards that effort.

I'm not so sure I'm happy about that now though.

:(

At a quick glance it would appear to me that that study's aim is to see what vape circulates in indoor airspace and gets into peoples (who aren't necessarily vaping themselves lungs.)

What I and any one who vapes should be interested in knowing is if we can find any evidence of potential serious health problems from vaping. It is too "new" for us to tell at this juncture. Typically in animal/rat studies they bombard the subjects with way more test substance in a short period of time and the subject generally has a much shorter lifespan...

Any study that wants to find out the potential effects of vaping needs to focus on flavorings.
It really is the only thing of any concern, as far as I can see.

So I would say 50/50 PG/VG might be a good idea.
But definitely have lots and lots of rats each using a different flavor.
:)
