We disabled this recently due to site scraping attacks that targeted the membership list for various purposes.

If you think there is a valid need for access by members, please outline any points and we'll see if there is some way to enable access without allowing bots with membership accounts to do so as well.

That's understandable.

I don't use the list that much. It comes in handy on occasion though, when I think of a thread from the past that I'd like to access again and can't find. Sometimes I'll remember who posted the thread, but don't get the names spelling correct when I search for it, the list can help pin it down. All in all though, it's not that important to me, others may have more pressing purposes for it.

It is handy on occasion for reasons like bacc cited. I know I'm looking for something "Joe Blow" posted, but cannot recall if I'm searching for:

jobloe
Joe Blow
joe_blow
joyblow224

et cetera. Some times access to the membership list is the only way to jump start your memory. That - and the post count shown in the membership list helps. (You know it's not gonna be one of all those Joe Blow's with a zero post count.)

Couldn't you just put a simple captcha in place? I think POTV does something similar when anyone wants to access their member list.

I have just completed a Co-op on ECF {REMOVED LINK}{ooops  sorry}.
  • It is customary to leave User Feedback on iTrader for all participants.
  • With 50+ participants this is a significant task.
  • The way I normally do it is to take my list of participants and search for their username.

Without the ability to search usernames I have no reliable way to ensure I leave feedback for all participants. There are a couple of work arounds but they are waaaaay too cumbersome when trying to leave feedback for 50+ participants.

  1. I could wait for them to leave feedback for me and then return it. However, I dont like it as it boils down to quid pro quo. I.e. participants only get feedback if they leave feedback. I personally believe they should ALL get feedback whether they leave me feedback or not.
  2. I could search through the thread of 1000+ posts and start clicking on usernames. Not only would this be cumbersome as all he!! but I also might miss some folks who maybe didnt post.

I hope a suitable work-around can be found, otherwise this kills the whole iTrader concept for Co-op Hosts. :(

OK this is certainly a valid reason for use of the membership list. I'll ask our coder if it is possible to create a non-staff usergroup who can access the membership list without any issues, and we could then allocate people permission to view the list, as needed.

Thank you..........

Is anybody else having this problem:

I tried to post a photobucket pic link, also happens regardless of what IMG I try to post.
An error has occurred mikepetro! You are not allowed to post links.

Could it be related to the changes they made to allow me access to the Member List?

Please try other links and other image hosts - need a more specific fault.

Roly, I did this and documented it in a response to the trouble ticket.

Its not images per-se that is the the problem, it is URLs. Anything that resembles a URL is kicking off the filter. IMG links are just URLs after all.

I cant give examples here because it kicks off the "An error has occurred mikepetro! You are not allowed to post links." filter, but I will post another entry on the trouble ticket with specific quotes of examples.

:(Things that trigger the filter are:
  • Any URL in any form, even trying to link to an ECF page or post kicks it off.
  • The images I was originally linking were standard public Photobucket links (nothing in their filename to kick off the bad word filters).
  • Even the "ampersand" symbol kicks it off. When I did {ampersand}username it kicked off the filter, until I deleted the symbol.

I will post another response to the trouble ticket with specific examples quoted.

Oh, and thanks for helping, I do appreciate it. :D

Hello Mike,

could you please login/logout now and let me know if the issue is fixed?

Thanks!

Whatever you did seems to have worked.

Thanks a bunch!
