Menthol or Burning?

So I've recently started to notice in my 2nd week of vaping on the same 18ml bottle that it's starting to taste a bit... Different. I know the steeping process makes the flavors come out more and it's been well long enough for that, but just recently my Grey Matter with light menthol added is tasting funky. I can't really tell if it's because my wick is starting to burn near the coil? Or if my cart needs cleaning? I take it apart once every few days and wipe it down with some cotton cloth and soak what I can in warm water but it's not cutting it any more. -_-
So my question is..
Is it just that menthol isn't so great when added to a flavor? Or is it something to do with my cart?

There are 2 things you can try.
Dry burn and replacement.

Well I've already got a Kanger Protank on the way but, it would be nice to have a backup for flavor testing, pretty much just want to keep my VariVolt storm carto in the best shape possible for as long as possible. I know I can get replacement 'innards' for it but I'm going to try to avoid that as much as I can.
