Ykruss,

It's definitely battery failure. I am just curious about the reason why so many are failing so fast. Maybe the batteries have no QC, maybe vaping just works the fellas too hard. Maybe charging and discharging simultaneously is just plain bad for batteries.

This one is for the geeks. I put my remaining 10440s in an Triton EQ, discharged then charged them to 4.1v. I then ran them thru a CBA II battery analyzer. I started using these batteries about three weeks ago. The two Trustfires are from the same package, the Ultrafires were a little earlier, but I started using them at the same time.

The bad Ultrafire was used like a passthru for a few days. You can see it can hardly hold a charge. The Trustfires came like twins, but the green line is only running at 50% capacity. The blue is the baseline. It's how a decent 10440 battery should perform.

I have another batch of Ultrafire and AW on the way. I'll use some of them in a controlled manner and see if a pattern emerges.

Ok, my first Janty Stick v2 was shipped back due to a button problem. The replacement works ok except...

Well, a couple of days ago i noticed that i had another problem with the button. While connected to the usb, i would press it and... nothing. After a couple of tries i disconnected it and worked like a charm.
Since then, every time i connect the usb on my stick for more than a few hours the same problem reappears.

Today, i was in for a shock (literally!)
while i was happily vaping, my batt went dead. "No prob" i thought. I connected it to my pc, pressed the button tried to drag and... BZZZZZZZZ!
An small electrical shock on my lips made me jump back! I tried again (yeah, i know... masochism..), same thing.
I removed the 901 adapter and tried with a 801 atty. Shock...
I tried with a different battery. Shock...
I wiped the entire thing clean and let it cool off. Shock....
I changed the usb cable and tried on a different pc. Shock...

Bottom line, as long as it's not connected to a power source, the stick works great. If i connect it i have to be very very careful for my lips not to touch anything metallic (including the battery cap).

Anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas on how to solve this issue?
I would hate to return it back to Janty. 2 replacements in less than 2 months? I would black-list me if i were them! :)

I never had that issue but from what you've written here the only thing it could be, I think, is that your mini-USB connection is wet from e-liquid. Or the USB cord is defective and is *leaking* voltage. Was the cord draped across your hand as you took a drag? If not, somehow the plastic JS is carrying voltage to your lips. It would follow that the Stick body is also damp thus completing the *circuit* to your lips. (gotta tell ya, I find this comical in a sadistic kinda way -- understand that I'm an electrician by trade and 5-ish volts DC isn't likely to hurt ya much) <g>

I would get a can of compressed air and blow out the USB connection as best as possible. Then lay the JS down on the USB connection as to allow e-liquid to drain from it. It may take a long while to dry it out.

I think the only questions on our minds are:

1) Did you receive any super powers from this?

2) Did it make your penis larger?

Best of luck to you. From today forward though, you'll be known as "Shocker".

Not as cool as this shocker, but still cool....

Ok, in answering your questions:

A) Unfortunately not!!! And this sucks! I mean, come on, the guy gets bitten by a spider and he becomes a super-hero, can't i at least get something too? Life ain't fair.... :nah:

B) Bigger than it already is??? :pervy::pervy::pervy:

Well.... it doesn't actually "hurt" (it's more like tiny needles in the lips), but still it's unpleasant. Especially if you don't expect it.

I tried different usb cables and still the same problem so i'll give the compressed air idea a shot. Excess liquid might be an answer since i'm a dripper....

hey doots,

yeah I've read about others having had switch probs. -- but I think that was almost all related to the JS v1 . This is a v2 (nearly new) with what I believe is supposed to be a replaced (better) switch element.

Actually, the switch seems to work just fine. The led on the JS flashes red 3 times each time the button is pressed. -- So the button seems to be functioning I guess.

I suppose it's possible the atty is dead. If the chip inside can sense no continuity... then perhaps that is what the flashing red led is supposed to indicate. -- dunno really.

Need more info, Fizzy.

When you replace the battery does the red LED flash a few times as you try to get threads started? If so, it's a switch issue. Sometimes the JS will cure itself of this issue. It seems that the switch contacts get wet (from e-liquid) and then will work again after a dry-out period. Try to dry it out. It's not a hot day here in NY but I have laid the JS down on top of an air conditioning vent for a few hours with success.

Btw, always charge the unit with the switch facing up. This way liquid wont leak into the switch -- 'tis a little known tip that Janty doesn't provide but experienced users find out. =)

If you dont get the red LED flashing when replacing the batt, the JS is dead - an internal circuitry issue.

Disregard my other response, Fizz. We were posting at the same time.

Do you have a spare atty to try? (please say; "yes, of course I do! Whaddaya think I am, an unprepared newbie?!") <g>

Same thing happened to me with two of my attys in the stick. When they were tightly screwed, the led blinked red and no vape.
I solved this by unscrewing them just a touch, and presto! they worked normally...

Which proves that too much screwing, isn't necessarily a good thing! :D

Make sure to blow out the USB connector on the cord(s) too... or we'll never get to the bottom of this. Good luck and be sure to post back... this has perked my attention.

try another atty for sure.

I have had 3 v2 sticks and had failures of switch.

I have taken the switch apart and it is sealed. No way for juice to get to it.

Just a cheap switch that fails.. imo

I'm on my third JS replacement as first two suffered switch failure as well.

I don't think the "juice leakage" issue had to do with it getting into the button but interfering with the contacts of the switch to the body itself.

I've never liked 'bubble' switches from past experiences as they seem to wear out way before you'd expect them to.

It's sad as the JS is a really sweet device for size and convenience.

Here's hoping they find an alternate switch.....

confirmed, i had that problem myself a few weeks ago. 3 red blinks and nothing more, as if it got shorted, the batt is warm after that.

just a little unscrew and it got vaping again.
