I think each will have it's appeal for usage. I'm finding it hard for anything out there to beat my JS2 for the size, life, vape and convenience for my lifestyle.

But dont worry, the JS V2 is a solid purchase by any standard, and should keep you satisfied for a long time. However, you might get the "bugs" that everyone else gets; The urge to get new gadgets .. and that might be hard to resist.
And as always, we have to inform you that if you do this, you will void the warranty.
That is, if we can see you have been there; and from what i know its quite hard to open it, and make it look as if you were never there. Just so you know.

I totally agree. Mine works perfectly but I'm thinking of ordering another one just in case - my 510s are starting to look less than adequate as a backup to the JS.

My apologies! I thought I read through the posts after mine. I found it unusual for you not to respond! I have alot of respect for Janty and I just wanted to make sure I did the right thing.

Mik, you're maybe right about voiding the warranty by opening V2 stick but there is the quote (in quote) below belongs to Ludo and he is talking about V1 (based on the time stamp) which wasn't sealed under the atty:

Yup, it can be opened. Here's how Ludo described it to me in an email:

I happen to have 3 Kissbox Classics with batteries and Janty Passthrough's. I Imagined that the Jantystick would be better so i bought one (preordered even) and was appalled at the quality and workmanship of it. It did'nt work properly from the very beginning. I got a replacement which was ok for a while and then started leaking and gumming up the switch. I have not been offered a V2 but cannot see how it could not have the same inherent design faults. The leakage will still affect the connection to the usb port leaving the Stick underpowered resulting in mouthfuls of Juice which give the user the need to carry with him a lot of tissues, a spitoon and plenty of toilet paper and medicine for a sore gut. Also a pair of pliars to extract the Atomiser out of the damn thing.

so it was ok to open my old V1 which was subsequently replaced under warranty (switch problem),
but my V2 which i popped open last week to dry out is now out of warranty :-(

I would try another USB cable.
Also it's possible that the USB port on your laptop is working badly.
Have you got a 5 volt supply, a power pack?
It may also be the janty, however if this is the second time it's happened with two different sticks, it must be something at your house.

The Jantystick is a solid product, but the sheer numbers of how many there has been produced make it impossible to avoid certain malfunctions or error-filled individual shipments. These are hand made; they are being put together by hand - so yes, problems can and will occur.
As for the leakage, this is why the V2 was built; and you also mentioned you preordered the Jantystick, making me think that you are talking about some of the very first batches, which apparently did have some quality issues.
And as for the workmanship - the Jantystick was ment to be a workhorse, something that would last for a long time, in terms of battery power. It was never built to be the most beautiful e-cigarette ever; and its opponent in this case, regarding looks, is a metal tubing with a nice finish. That is an unfair opponent, seeing as if the jantystick had been made in metal, its price would have gone up several times.
So there are alot of reasons why the Kissbox looks, and acts like it does; and why its price is what it is.
And, then, you have another product, the Jantystick, which also has its features, its ups and downs, and its own pricetag, which for what it offers, is a very compelling price.
Maybe its not for you; good thing you have found a vaping device that IS for you then, in this case the kissbox. But it does not make the Jantystick a lesser device for everyone else in the world; alot of people love it.
Having said that, im sorry you had a bad experience with your Jantystick, because to me its the reason i dont smoke analogue cigarettes - its *that* good in my eyes. But im happy you are enjoying your kissbox.
I got my JS back in May. It's my main vape and I rotate 4 different (Janty supplied) batteries. Sometimes, when I work extra long hours the battery goes dead. Other times, when I get to a charger I'll recharge the battery long before it doesn't fire up. Now by "dead", I mean the unit won't fire and the red LED lights up to indicate that the battery is depleted.
Having never used Li-ion batteries before, I presumed that as the 10440s died out I would experience a shorter battery life. IOW, if I got 10 hours when the batts were new I would get less than that as they wore down from use and recharges. But, that's not the case. I still get 10 hours or so of life (about 1 ml e-liquid while I'm at work) but by the 7th hour I get an awful taste from the JS. So, I started to measure voltage from freshly charged to the moment that the liquid tasted bad. Charged batteries measure about 4.18 volts. When the liquid tastes bad, or about 7 hours in my case, they measure about 3.7 volts. This is not tested under a load, just the volt meter across the battery so it's obviously lower than that when the coil energizes. Replacing the battery at that 3.7 volt phase (and the awful taste) restores the JS to its peak condition making me nearly vaporgasmic, to borrow a phrase from a dear friend. =)
So, is it time to replace my batteries? How did you guys know when your batteries needed replacement? I think I anticipated a state where they wouldn't hold a charge worth a damn (like other recharge-ables) but now I'm realizing that's not the case with the JS. The JS works with a depleting battery (and WAY before the red LED signal) it just doesn't heat the atty up enough for a good/normal hit.
For those of you that have used Li-Ion batts for flashlights and such, same question -- when does one know when it's time to toss 'em?

i had 4 batteries for my JS .. now i have two ... but at that price its still worth getting a few more .... they seem to die rather quickly ... the two dead ones i have make the wall charger scream "get it out .. get it out"
i hear lots of voices ..... they tell me to clean my guns ........ strange thing is i dont have any guns !!!! ..

Mik - Just recieved my JS V2!! Finally came and I'm pretty happy! I really like that I was able to fire it up right away via the USB without waiting for a new batt to charge. Not sure why so many folks had issues with seating the atty. I followed the instructions (leaving the cart on it and screwing it in that way) and it went right in and worked without issue.
I'll keep you posted on how I like it but I can tell it's gonna be great!

Absolutely. Part of the allure of the JS was the inexpensive batteries. I'm ordering new as we speak, even. I'm just curious as to the when and whys to replacement of other users, ya know? Yours won't take a charge worth a damn (thus the screams) while mine take a charge just fine via wall charger or the JS USB cord -- They just don't get the coil hot enough to properly excite the liquid into a nice tasting, hard hitting vape.
I'm thinking your case is the norm, though. And I'm thinking my batts are about a week or so away from making the charger scream too.
